After a bit of advice really... I went in for a stretch and sweep today but midwife wasn't able to do this as my cervix is closed & said it was 1cm long?

Does this mean I literally have no chance at all of anything happening due to this?

Sorry totally clueless! Thanks

No it doesn’t. It can change very quickly, it just means she wasn’t able to do the sweep. How far along are you?

I'm nearly 38 weeks. I feel gutted she wasn't able to do the sweep, she said he's very low down but yep cervix is closed! .

@vik1233 you’re still very early. My trust won’t offer a sweep until 41 weeks. Is there a reason they are trying to do it so early?

Various medical issues was hoping to not go down the induction route!

It’s very common for the cervix not to be ready yet as you’re only just classed as full term. It may be another few weeks before it becomes more favourable. Keep active, walk sideways up stairs or walk with one foot on the pavement and one on the road, bounce on your ball. Also get lots of oxytocin flowing so warm baths, massages from your partner, watch a comedy, be as relaxed and happy as you can so your body releases the hormones it needs to trigger labour.
