Wedding in 2 days, bleeding today at 11 and 5

We went for a private scan yesterday as I'm 11 and 5 and will be 12 weeks at our wedding on Saturday so we wanted to announce to our guests on the day.
Our NHS scan is a week today and will be around 13 weeks.
I woke up at 4am with stomach ache, nothing too severe but I've been to the toilet and have bright red blood when I wipe
I found out I was pregnant early March and bled every day for about 3 weeks, because of this and a previous MMC I've been paying for regular private scans. I've had 2 at the EPAU but they've discharged me both times
After the first scan (6 weeks ish) I had, I bled very significantly (my pjs were saturated and it was running down my legs) the EPAU scanned me the day before this and I still had a heartbeat
I've had no blood now for about 3 weeks so I was feeling really positive and my scan went well yesterday
Has anyone else had bleeding after a scan (non of my scans have been internals) Or have any past experience they can share with me. Xxx

With my eldest I had severe bleeding at 12 weeks which turned out to be a subchorionic hematoma, flooded a few pads and didn’t hope for much but she’s now a 9 year old. I’m sorry you are going through this and have my fingers crossed that you have positive news soon. All the best for your wedding.

I had a bleeding in my first trimester (I am now 31 weeks). It was very scary, but turned out to be nothing serious. They never figured out what caused it though.
I understand how scared you must be, is it just bleeding or are you passing clots too?

Can you see a midwife for reassurance?

Mrsstart · 20/04/2023 05:29

@HanSB thank you so much. Did they diagnose the sub-chronic hematoma at your scan? When I went yesterday they said everything looked fine, I asked about some niggling pains I had the night before and she said there was nothing she could see xx

@mischlerischler Congratulations, that's really reassuring to hear you are doing so well, not long to go now!
It's just when I wipe at the moment, no clots as of yet. I've come to lay in bed for a while just to keep off my feet and not constantly looking. I have a dull tummy ache but I wouldn't say it's painful x

@mischlerischler I'm not sure I would get to see a midwife. Our pathway is through A&E up to 16 weeks and it's usually 4 days from when you self refer that you can see someone from EPAU X

I had quite a lot of bleeding the day before my NHS 12 week scan and was convinced it was bad news - turned out to be a sub-chronic hematoma too. They could see it on my scan, but they were looking for it due to the bleed.

I know you have nice plans to announce at your wedding (completely understand why you'd want to), but I personally wouldn't until you'd had another scan to confirm all was okay.

yes i had a huge amount, i was sitting on the toilet and i sounded like i was going for a wee! hospital were shit as well didn't even try to find out the reason just said there was a heartbeat and sent me on my way after a 12 hour observation. went for a private scan and they told me straightaway i had a low lying placenta and that's what caused it. good luck i hope everything turns out ok for you and you have a wonderful wedding.

Did the EPAU say what might be the cause of earlier bleeding? I was private from 6 weeks so when I had bleeding I was able to see my consultant for a scan the same day. I was also sent to Fetal Medical Centre for much more detailed scans. If you are in London it might be an option for you to get a private scan. I highly recommend them and if you explained the situation you might be able to go today or tomorrow. I had one scan there that took 3 hours as baby kept moving and they didn’t rush us until had the data needed even though it was way past closing. Try your best to rest, I know it’s stressful especially with a wedding in a couple days time.

Is there any chance you can book a private scan for tomorrow before your wedding on Saturday? It's hopefully nothing bad at all but it will help give you peace of mind. Unless your local early pregnancy unit can get you booked in?

ElmTree22 · 20/04/2023 17:35

Call your midwife and get checked out asap. Could be absolutely nothing but best to get checked!

I bled during my 12 week scan with DD1. I went for a wee midway as my bladder was way too full and there was blood.in my underwear and when I wiped. Turned out I had cervical ectropian and the pressure from the scan just aggravated it all. Also had spotting with intercourse for the same reason.

Ttcmumma · 21/04/2023 17:54

How are you doing op?

Mrsstart · 24/04/2023 14:42

Hi all

Our private scans have always just been the pay for the ultrasound but they are non diagnosis so basically they just check for a heartbeat and nothing else. The EPAU don't really want to entertain much but said over the phone it could have been pressure from the scan but my auntie is a MW and said she doesn't believe that.
Everything is fine though and it wasn't a lot of blood so we did decided to go ahead and announce and it was such a special moment.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences I think when I next go for my NHS scan I will ask a few questions from this too. Xx
