If my 12 week scan is late

Hi all!

My 12 week scan was booked in for a date where we’re on holiday, so it’s been rebooked for when I’m 13 weeks and 6 days. So the very end of when I can have it.

What are the risks of having the scan so late? I am already planning to get the Harmony Test privately next week, so is it an issue if the nuchal measurements are not accurate because of the dates?

I had mine at 13+6 with DS2. They were still able to measure fine 🙂 Congratulations!

Yes, I had mine late and then measured a few days later than my dates so they couldn’t do the nucal fold. I had the quad test instead.

It was fine but something was found on my 20 week scan which could be a soft marker for down’s. Everything was fine in the end but it was a hellish week to wait for a rescan in the fetal medicine unit.

That’s terrifying and what I’m worried about.

If I get the harmony test, could that address the uncertainty over the nuchal fold?

I would think so, my worry with the quad test was that even though it’s pretty accurate it’s mainly based on an algorithm rather than your actual baby so it didn’t feel very reassuring after my scan. My understanding is that Harmony is based on DNA so you should know one way or another rather than just odds.
