Hello everyone,
I had 20w scan today everything looks normal except for Bent Finger and RPD(urine block in kidney) which is soft marker for Down syndrome 😭😭
Given blood for NIPT which results will be coming after 2 weeks!!!

Fingers crossed 🤞🤞

I understand how you feel. I had my 20w ultrasound last week and also shows RPD. I had NIPT done in first trimester which was low risk, but I'm still feeling unreasonably anxious about it (I'm 38 and had a recent miscarriage) and I don't want to get invasive testing out of fear of hurting the baby. Objectively though, with a negative NIPT, the guidelines consider RPD to be a normal variant (it's apparently a very common finding in otherwise healthy babies) and don't recommend further testing for Down syndrome - just follow up with another ultrasound in a few weeks to see how the kidney is doing, and in most cases the RPD will resolve by itself.

I hope your NIPT comes back low risk and you can get some peace of mind. I wish you and your baby all the best!

I also had mild RPD noted on one kidney at 20 week scan which hasn’t progressed. By scan at 31 weeks it had resolved. I was told it was the most common anomaly to find esp in boys and that it wasn’t anything to be concerned about so hope your tests come back ok

My 7 month old has RPD. The 12 week blood test put me in a risk group so we chose to have further testing and all came back OK on that front. The RPD showed on 1 kidney on the 20 week scan. It didn’t resolve itself invetro. He is however, currently a very happy little baby, and save for being on antibiotics, is currently uneffected by it. He will have an operation soon to correct the issue.

I had not heard of RPD prior to my son being diagnosed with it, but since then I have met a number of people with it, including a friend who had it diagnosed at the age of 7 and who is now a fit and healthy 35 year old.

In short, I am thinking of you. The picture may be brighter than it initially seems. Good luck!

@Becu @LT103 thanks a lot for your reassurance it means a lot 🥹
I had double marker test done at 13 weeks which showed low risk for any abnormalities but due to RPD and bent pinky finger my OBG referred for NIPT now.. waiting for results and this 2 week wait is the horrible state to be 😭

@Danskekat Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.
OBG suggested antibiotics and Operation if RPD resists for future.
I was more concerned with it being soft marker for Down syndrome 😭
