6+1 after ivf and symptoms fading

Hi all

I guess I'm after some reassurance... I am now 6 plus 1 following a successful five day transfer with ICSI. Around test date, I had a bit of nausea, some fatigue and sore breasts.
These faded a few days after positive test and now all the remains are the sore breasts. I do have some discharge that looks a lot like it could be pg discharge but again, could be the progesterone.
It is possible that I had a v mild case of OHSS following egg collection that then reoccurred mildly around test date and subsequent got better. I keep telling myself that this could account for the change in symptoms.
But I am literally terrified that the progesterone that I am on is covering up a miscarriage or a non viable pregnancy.
Scan date fills me with the utmost dread and I wake in the night for hours thinking about it every night.
I have no bleeding or spotting.

Has anyone had any similar experiences or able to offer any insight into the mysterious world of pregnancy symptoms before I lose my tiny mind!! Xx

Morning- sorry you find yourself in this anxiety ridden situation. I’m 5w3d today. Also on progesterone pessaries due to history of miscarriage and I have exactly the same fears.

I’ve lost/lessening what little symptoms I had. I did a test yesterday and feel it’s lighter that those previously. I’m driving myself mad, Googling and searching through mumsnet….

I have nothing to offer other than solidarity

Hello congratulations on your pregnancy. I am 32 weeks pregnant with a much longed baby following ivf.
Symptoms definitely came and went and then came back again right through my pregnancy. I stopped progesterone on the day of my positive test (clinics advise) and didn’t really have any symptoms after that until about the 7-8 week mark. Had early scan at 7 weeks and thankfully everything was fine despite my lack of symptoms. I worried like you that something wasn’t right but baby has thankfully been ok.
Best of luck with your pregnancy

Farmersweeklyreader · 18/04/2023 08:38

Also just to add, I did 3 pregnancy tests on the day my clinic asked and didn’t do anymore after that day.
I also haven’t had any private scans, just nhs scans at 7 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks, 29 weeks and I’m booked for another at 35 weeks. (Last 2 are growth scans)
I think it helped me not to keep testing or get extra scans as it wouldn’t help my anxiety, just add to it unfortunately.
It helps to speak to a midwife at your booking in appt about anxiety, they can help.

The symptoms or lack of them are meaningless and there is no way to tell before the scan how things will go. I’ve had two successful IVF pregnancies with fewer symptoms than you and heavy bleeding throughout the first trimester. Some people have textbook symptoms on a natural pregnancy and continue having strong symptoms after the baby’s heart has stopped. Unfortunately you just have to accept uncertainty.

Same as pp I'm currently looking at my sleeping 6month old much wanted ivf son.
I had zero symptoms until 3rd trimester when hello heartburn.
I too had heavy bleeding during first trimester which started at the 6 week mark.

It's hard not to overthink and worry.

Thanks everyone for replying. I don't think I've ever been more terrified of anything before. I do know I need to get a grip! But it is reassuring the hear your stories.

Ironically, I have had a termination in the past (I was very young) and remember experiencing loads of symptoms with that. And now absolutely bugger all!

I am 6+2 today. On Progesterone Pessaries x1 400mg a day and 150mg Asprin due to two losses last year, both of which were MMC. Yesterday I noticed boobs were not as heavy or sore and this morning soreness is completely gone. I am beside myself! I have a scan next Friday with my consultant, but I cant help but think this is not going to end well. I have no other symptoms of pregnancy, all I had was the sore boobs which have now disappeared.

SarahScone · 18/04/2023 11:30

Like @Farmersweeklyreader has said, I haven't done any more tests other than the three i did initially, one on day of test date and then following two days. I will only agonise and obsess over line depth if I do that.
I have been doing some reading this morning of all these people who's symptoms hit like a train at 6 weeks and never have I wanted to feel nauseous more than I do right now! It seems like most stories you hear are good news but how many people REALLY have symptom-less early pregnancies!

Totally agree with you I would love to have sickness or something because at least I would feel as though things are progressing and hormone levels are high!
I can’t bring myself to do another test either! I’ll just wait it out until the scan to see how things are.
I would love nothing more to be able to be excited about being pregnant but unfortunately I am just riddled with fear and anxiety!

Farmersweeklyreader · 18/04/2023 11:49

@SarahScone my symptoms didn’t hit me like a train until I was 20 weeks. Had fainting spells, really bad nausea, sore hips, generally feeling very unwell.
Before that minor symptoms, sore boobs now and then, slight nausea once every couple of weeks, bloating. I could feel totally fine and full of energy for a couple of weeks at a time up until the 20 week mark. Try not to stress about symptoms. I do know how hard it is though, I can say im probably just enjoying being pregnant now even if I am feeling physically rubbish 😅

Creepyrosemary · 18/04/2023 13:42

Symptoms came and went all the time untill I had constant heartburn in the 3rd trimester and was as big as a house. Even then I went for extra checks if I thought she was moving less. It's so worrying to have an ivf pregnancy but symptoms, or lack thereof, mean absolutely nothing.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck.

RordonGamsey · 18/04/2023 16:10

I had an early reassurance scan yesterday as I was convinced my womb was empty! I've felt sick for a couple of weeks but all my other symptoms come and go. One day my boobs will be agonising and the next day they're fine. One day I'll have cramps then they'll disappear. I'll have energy one day and I'll have 4 naps in a day the next! Some days I eat like a pig and others I've no appetite. Its very disconcerting and I'm glad I went and paid for that scan! Saw its little heart beating.

When are you due for a scan? I'm not familiar with IVF procedures

SarahScone · 18/04/2023 19:17

Hi @Rordon
Lovely that you were able to see everything progressing nicely and that you saw a heart beat.

I think all people who have ivf get a 7 week-ish scan to check viability. Mine is next Thursday.

Still don't have anything other than the sore boobs. And even they disappeared for a couple of hours this afternoon (cue major trauma but that has now deigned to return) and some very questionable mild episodes of nausea that I very easily could've imagined. And that's literally it!

My first pregnancy nearly 17 years ago was completely symptomless! I didn't find out until I was 6 months gone and started lactating. I was on birth control, no periods. In my eyes that was the ideal pregnancy 🤣

How are you feeling? Not long to wait for your scan! I know the wait will feel like an eternity, but I'm wishing you well and hopefully you'll feel so much better after! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

jollybynamejollybynature · 08/07/2023 21:55

@SarahScone
How did you get on with the scan?
Fingers crossed it was all good news
