Hi guys since 7pm yesterday I suddenly developed a very painful toothache I've been in constant agony since I've non stop been crying, several panic attacks, I've took the max dose of paracetamol so there's really nothing else I can do, 111 can only advise continue paracetamol, emergency dentist won't do anything other than a course of antibiotics due to me being 31 weeks pregnant, wich is all great but non of this helps with the constant amount of pain I am in. I don't cope with pain very well as it is and I'm being to feel like enough is enough with 24 hours of no sleep. I'm concerned with what effect the amount of stress I'm under will have on my baby, there's times where I'm hurting to bad I can't control my Breathing. What do I do now? I can feel baby moving still lots of pushing pressure (possible BH) I'm at a loss what do I do😢

I really feel for you. I had this at about 36 weeks and we were also in lockdown the pain was horrendous, literally wanted to say my head off.

The antibiotics will start to work soon in the mean time things I found that reduced the pain were washing my mouth out with warm salty water several times a day, using cordisil mouth wash. Try not to worry you will feel much better once the infection is under control. Once you have had baby go back and get it treated straight away. Hope you feel better soon x

Have you got the antibiotics and started taking them?

I had this around a month ago when I was 32 weeks and would really suggest getting to a dentist if you can, he did a clean and temp filling for me and I’ve been pain free since. To go back for root canal once baby is here. Temp dentists are very mixed so you may find the next one you see more helpful!

what is causing the pain do you know?

Hi @mummytotwoxo I’m a dental nurse and the only thing we can’t do for a pregnant patient is X-rays and amalgam (silver) fillings. Antibiotics will only settle the pain if there’s infection there, if it’s decay they can do a temp fill to get you through until after the birth or if it’s really bad they can still do extractions when your pregnant. Hope you get sorted x
