I got induced last time cos I went 14 days over - it was a horrid horrid experience and am keen to avoid it again.

What chances of going overdue again? Can anyone share experience of what happened to them?

Sorry can't help but really want to know too. It's something I worry about when we/if we have DC2....

SauerKraut · 15/02/2008 12:06

I have 4- ds was induced and it was horrible too, dds2 and 3 came by themselves on or around heir due dates, dd3 had to be induced but it was absolutely fine- the most relaxed and easiest birth of all, actually!

missjennipenni · 15/02/2008 12:07

I went 5 days over due the 2nd time, waters broke but nothing else happened, so i was "accelerated" with oxytocin

First baby was 10 dues over due & i was induced

missjennipenni · 15/02/2008 12:08

syntocinon, not oxytocin!

i have had 5 first 2 induced at 10 days over one dd came on due date natuarally and 4th came 5 days late but nataurally and 5th 3days late naturally in 20mins

MadamePlatypus · 15/02/2008 21:06

Had waters broken for DS at 12 days.

Was due to go in to have waters broken with DD, also at 12 days, but went into labour the night before.

I reckon that I am just programmed to take a little bit longer.

dizzydixies · 15/02/2008 21:07

I was induced with dd1 and went into labour naturally with dd2 at 5days over, ended up on emcs but only because stubborn wee madame wouldn't come down!

MrsJohnCusack · 15/02/2008 22:08

induced with DD at a few days over due to high BP. induction worked fast so I do wonder if I was about to go into labour anyway
DS - went 13 days over but turned up to the induction appointment FINALLY in labour. didn't go as quickly as I'd hoped in the end but glad to dodge the induction

I was induced at 14 days over with ds1; again, not a great experience. Second time I asked to go to at least 3 weeks over before induction which they were fine with, but ds2 finally came at +10 (and relatively quick and easy natural waterbirth). I drank a whole bottle of castor oil at term but it had no effect at all!

moominsmummy · 16/02/2008 12:30

thanks am feeling a bit more hopeful that i won't need to be induced - am planning to refuse induction for as long as possible anywaybut don't know what their reaction will be

Horrible induction for the first. 2nd arrived spontaneously 3 days late.

MegSophandEmma · 16/02/2008 13:31

I went 14 days over with number two also and again was induced, but the second induction was sooooo much better I was alot more in countrol than when I had DD1. I went a day over with dd3.

DS1 was induced after 2 weeks overdue. DS2 slipped out 3 days late wth a 2 hour labour

expatmama · 16/02/2008 13:44

same experience as MedSophandEmma - i was induced with both my boys and the second induction was so much better as i was far more in control - i had both pessary and drip for the first, whereas just a pessary was enough to get it all going with DS2.

majormoo · 16/02/2008 15:00

DD induced as two weeks overdue. DS came naturally a week late and his birth was great

NorthernLurker · 16/02/2008 15:08

dd1 induced at 14 days 'overdue', dd2 natural labour at 41 weeks, dd3 natural labour at 41 +1 (just - born at 0239 having gone into labour at 41 weeks)
