Sibling for Reuben - Wilf, Xander or Caleb?

Just looking for feedback on these names, DS is Reuben.

We like that Caleb matches Reuben in terms of being a biblical name but are they too biblical together??

Xander we like and it would be Xander alone as I don’t like Alex as a NN so wouldn’t risk calling baby Xander.

Wilf I think is sweet and cool but not sure how much I like Wilfred as a full name and if it matches Reuben or not.

We’re both secondary school teachers and trying to avoid names that are super common! I know these names aren’t unheard of but I’ve never taught any child of these names or met any in real life yet!

Opinions? Which would you choose?

Caleb. I think it works well. Not keen on the other 2 names.

Caleb

Xander is very popular so would probably end up in a class with at least 1 of them. Wilf is a dogs name.
Caleb is fine, but as Rueben is the oldest of the children of Israel y not choose one of the others.

Caleb or Xander

I am so sorry OP but all I hear with Wilf are the similarities to two unfortunate acronyms (that may be because I also work with teenagers and tend to hear all manner of creative nicknames so look out for ones to avoid)...
But I digress, other two are lovely and only ever encountered one of each so clearly a bit more unique then the average name as well.

Caleb.

I'm really not keen on Xander - it sounds so pretentious -nor Wilf, given the association with Boris Johnson's baby son.

So Caleb it is.

Def go for Caleb!

Sallyh87 · 18/04/2023 16:29

Another vote for Caleb. I like Xander too but I know this is on the maybe baby names of two of my friends, so I don’t think it will be so rare in a few years.

Letitrain93 · 20/04/2023 22:42

I‘m biased as it’s my one year olds name but another vote for Caleb! Funny as I was thinking of using Xander for my second and Caleb was almost named Wilfred! We share great taste :D x
