Hello, spent the night in hospital following a trip to a&e for suspected ectopic. Had an internal scan this morning and thankfully everything is in the right place but she could only see the yolk sac in the gestational sac.

She said they will call me tomorrow with an appt for another scan next week and I already had a private scan booked for next weekend when I'm due to be 7 weeks.

I'm just feeling really anxious, I've just had a nap and can't stop having nightmares that I'm going to start bleeding and have another loss. I miscarried in November and again at the start of March. Been googling like crazy and seen so many different stories but just wanted to ask for myself, has anyone experienced this before and it's been okay? Or am I likely to be having another loss?

I meant to say they tested my HCG through the night and it was 12000, when I had my loss in November it was 257 and went down to 50 over a couple of days. Is this a better sign?

First time that happened for me it was not good news, pregnancy did not progress past 7 weeks and had a D&C as was a MMC

Second time it was good news though - sac at 6 weeks, hb at 7+3 and DS is now 14

Had a successful pregnancy 2 years prior and a chemical in between

It's so hard to know; so sorry you are going through this and for your previous losses wishing you well Flowers

HCG levels definitely better

Okay I have had another look at my dates and usually I ovulate on day 12/13 but last month it wasn't until day 15/16 so if I go by that I might only be 5w5d? Trying to grasp anything that might still give a glimmer of hope, but will see what the EPU say tomorrow

@jackstini thank you for sharing. I'm sorry it wasn't good news first time but glad it was better second time around. It's going to be a long week waiting for the next scan now but hopeful that there's still no bleeding and high hcg so hoping for the best x

Best of luck. Such a horrendous wait to have to do. No experience Of the fetal pole situation but also miscarried a few months back and the emotional pain of it is horrendous, so to have this worry is dreadful. I really hope you get good news. It does sound like you might be earlier than expected with the gestation though so that’s putting you on the good side of the odds of things working out hopefully!!!

I had a scan at 6 weeks due to previous ectopic. They measured me 5+5 and saw a gestational sac and yolk sac - no fetal pole. They said at that time it's often to early to see. Went for a scan at 8.5 weeks and all was well! The dates ended up catching up by the 12 week scan so I don't think it's an exact science!

Cece92 · 16/04/2023 22:29

I had a scan at 6.5 weeks due to pain and a bleed. They could only see the sac with nothing in it and said I wasn't quite 6.5 weeks. Went back 10 days later at 8 weeks 1 day and baby had caught up and measured exact and by 12 week scan was measuring exact. It's very stressful. We weren't in a position ti pay for scans so had to wait on NHS ones. Such a nerve wracking wait. I hope everything with the baby is okay xx

I went in after spotting at 6 weeks and there was a yolk sac but no fetal pole- they said it was 50/50 as to whether they pick up a fetal pole at 6 weeks- but like you, I ovulated later that cycle (by OPKs) and was only about 5+4 so that made sense.
Went back 2 weeks later and heartbeat could be seen by 8 weeks (or 7+4 going by opks)

@Yummymummy2020 thank you, my scan is next Monday at 10am so at least it's early in the day but I keep going between feeling alright about it and absolutely terrified. I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well, it's an awful thing to go through ♥️

@sugarspices @Cece92 @Elttek

thank you, I'm glad it worked out for you at your later scans. I'm so scared.

Any update on this?

greyberry · 26/09/2023 02:07

@IVFAlone sorry I've just seen this! I had my scan the following week and there was a heartbeat and fetal pole all there. I'm 29 weeks now with an active baby girl Grin

Aww @greyberry that sounds a awesome news! So pleased for you

Hi There how much did you bleed and how much pain did you have? I’m 6w1d and no yolk shown and have started to bleed with minor period pain.
