@LeeanneD11 tired but not as tired as first pregnancy but I work from home now so that helps. Nausea but not actually been sick mainly first thing and evening. Less again than first pregnancy I would say. Pretty sore boobs. Can't complain though as still feel able to function. Some of my friends have had horrendous sickness so feeling lucky to have avoided that so far. Very noticeable bump in some clothes.

Has anyone found out the gender from their NIPT tests?

I'm still pretty tired , I go bed early too . But I'm lucky with the sickness as didn't suffer with other pregnancies but I've got hardly any cravings just crisps lol 😂 x

@spanglesj I had a bit of spotting the other day at 10 weeks and had an EPU Scan - all was okay and the midwife just said spotting can be quite common between 10-12 weeks as your placenta starts growing and gets ready to take over your hormones drop which can make your blood vessels a bit more sensitive.

Hopefully this is the case for you too - lot's of ladies in here who had spotting or bleeds that didn't indicate anything being wrong ❤

spanglesj · 27/04/2023 15:54

This is really helpful thanks…. Already going out of my mind after 2 earlier losses and this being an IVF pregnancy! Got some mild cramping too. Appreciate your encouraging words.

CherryK87 · 27/04/2023 17:49

Hey ladies.

Nice to read people have had good scans today! I have my 12 week scan next Thursday but will actually be 12+5.
I was just wondering if anyone is experiencing severe fatigue? I am really struggling as I am so exhausted and morning sickness is killing me. I have had to take time off work already with this pregnancy and I'm just so worried and it's starting to make me feel very down and low. Has anyone got any recommendations or tips to beat the horrendous first trimester symptoms? Thanks in advance x

Hopewishprayer · 27/04/2023 18:11

@greentreeseverywhere @FlyingHighFlyingLow i am similar ladies, 9 weeks today and last few days but if a sore back and cramps coming and going. I have read that can be completely normal at this stage so try not to worry (I really should take my own advice 😂). Hope the scan goes well tomorrow, I am going to book (another) private scan for next week as my first scan with nhs isn’t until 13+5 😕

Sb86 · 27/04/2023 18:35

@CherryK87 my scan is a week today and I'll be 12+5. I know what you mean about getting down about it, I've not seen some of my friends in weeks because I'm just too tired or feeling sick and don't want them cottoning on. I also stopped working out just before the 2 week waiting period as I didn't want to risk it with having a hematoma last time and having a mc. My mental health has definitely taken a nose dive but I find if I can manage getting out to walk that I feel better. I'm hoping for good news next week with baby obviously but with the hematoma hopefully it's gone and I can start back working out. I feel like I may be starting to feel a bit better this last couple of days, I'm still tired and feeling sick but I don't think as much. I hope you start feeling better soon x

medicmumma · 27/04/2023 19:06

Mine’s next Thursday too - so nervous 😩 had my bloods done for the combined test today

Spareincoming · 27/04/2023 19:50

Help!
My scan is tomorrow and I’ve just really read the letter, it says to read the enclosed ultrasound leaflet… I haven’t got one!
I assume it’s the information about drinking fluid before etc - anyone remember what they were told?

  • How much fluid (it’s water etc onyl isn’t it)
  • can I have cereal and fruit juice about an hour before? My appointment is so early I will just have had breakfast and I have had a scan were I couldn’t eat prior to it but can’t remember if it was a pregnancy one!
Thanks!

The scan I had at the EPU didn't prescribe any specifics. Think I've read 1.5L before but that's overkill. I didn't have anywhere near that much and was fine. Mainly it's about WHEN you drink the liquid. Got told by an anesthetist once the half life of water in your stomach is 20 mins, then will obv take longer to reach your bladder. So 750mL 90 mins before will result in a fuller bladder than 1.5L 45 mins before.

Mldn · 27/04/2023 20:08

@Spareincoming mine was this morning, I had toast, a coffee & about pint & half of water from waking up to 90 mins or so before but that’s usual for me in the morning. Had a wee then had maybe another glass of water, didn’t wee from an hour or so before and I was desperate! Was absolutely fine!

NatGee · 27/04/2023 21:05

I think youll be OK. I carried on with my day as usual, my scan was in the morning and I had breakfast, walked the dog, drank, had a wee etc. I must have had a half full bladder by the time of the scan and they didnt even ask

Thack · 27/04/2023 21:56

My letter didn't say anything about food.
Recommends a pint of water an hour before.

My bladder wasn't quite full enough on my first. I think that was linked with my scan being in the morning when I'm usually less hydrated. I'm going to drink a little more this time.

Obviously wear something you can comfortably access your belly and your arm. You might have to wriggle trousers /knickers down a little, you're not exposed at all, it's just to move the waistband out of the way.

It might be worth taking a little cash in case you have to pay for pics.

Briblack · 27/04/2023 21:59

I’m due 11/11/23

Mldn · 27/04/2023 22:00

Ah yes - good call on remembering cash for pics! Ours were 2 for £5 today & only cash accepted x

Spareincoming · 27/04/2023 22:17

Thanks everyone!
I’m quite stressed about it as the scan appointment is at 8.15 which is ridiculous as I’ve got DC to manage and it’s a 45 minute drive to the hospital!
Last pregnancy they sent me away to wee then had me drink more so I was there for hours and we’ve got to be back for 12.00pm to pick up DC as their provision is closed for training tomorrow afternoon! What a mess!

CherryK87 · 27/04/2023 23:33

@Sb86 Ah well that's exciting that we are due date buddies! 😊
I'm sorry to hear about your previous mc. It's understandable that your mental health would be taking a nose dive, especially when pregnancy symptoms are so difficult to manage too. I'm glad the symptoms are starting to ease a little for you now and I will keep my fingers crossed everything goes well at your scan next week.
I had IVF with a medicated frozen embryo transfer and stop the meds this weekend so I'm hoping that with less hormones my symptoms might settle a little too. Will look forward to updates from you. X

GemmaJen · 28/04/2023 06:56

Is anyone starting to get uncomfortable sleeping on their back? I wake up in the morning on my back and can feel the pressure on my abdomen, it's mildly uncomfortable. I don't remember this with my first pregnancy, I'm pretty sure the sleeping on side advice wasn't until 16 weeks or later. I'm 13w now.

Not looking forward to being pinned in with pillows, I'm struggling to sleep as it is 🙈

medicmumma · 28/04/2023 08:12

Caved in and booked a private scan for this afternoon (11+1) - so nervous but just desperate to know what is happening in my body 😩

Skyla01 · 28/04/2023 08:42

@spanglesj I've had a little bit of spotting yesterday and this morning. It is a bit worrying, but not much and not bright red bleeding so I'm just trying to forget about it. Not so easy when I'm needing the loo about 15 times a day!

spanglesj · 28/04/2023 09:47

Good luck with your scan @medicmumma , mine is this avo too . All the good vibes . Came to the EPU this morn (an hr drive) but the self referral system has changed so they sent me away…. Now got to wait until 3 for my appt! Hopefully I can report good news later . @Skyla01 good idea to try to forget, that is what I am doing since it has stopped (altho tbh I am avoiding checking) I hope yours does too xx the EPU this morning told me that it wouldn’t be enough for a referral to them! Tricky these days isn’t it to be seen, but I do understand they must be maxed out.

Skyla01 · 28/04/2023 09:49

@spanglesj I think if I had bright red bleeding or bad cramps I would try EPU, but a little bit of spotting is quite common. I will try and trust that everything is ok and wait for my 12 week scan next week.

Sb86 · 28/04/2023 09:56

Good luck to everyone having scans today 🥰
@medicmumma I don't blame you, I'm not even bothered about seeing baby I just want to be told that there is a heartbeat. Its nervewracking waiting between scans and to think if I hadn't had a bleed I wouldn't have had a scan at all until my 12 week one. It's bad enough waiting from 6+5 to 12+5, I'd have booked a private scan if my other half would agree to it. I haven't pressed for one in fairness as I think he would agree if I had.

All the best anyway 😊

vix_85 · 28/04/2023 10:09

Sadly the heartbeat has gone so #5 is another missed miscarriage. Wishing all you ladies the best for your pregnancies but our journey is over x
