2nd faint line appearing after timeframe

Due a medical procedure so needed to check I wasn't pregnant. Did a test yesterday, negative within the time frame, all was good. However when I went to put it in the bin after about 30 minutes there was a faint (but clear) blue line.

Did another test this morning and again same thing happened, negative within the time frame then a while later a faint blue line appeared.

I'm not due on my period for another 4/5 days. Does anyone have any idea why this has happened ? I'm assuming I'm not actually pregnant with both being negative within the time frame but why would they both then have a blue line appear?

If it outside the time frame it's an evaporation line.

It's unlikely but I would get a FRER if you can to check. I did a cheap Tesco one and the line only appeared after about 10 mins but line was very clear and in the time frame on FRER and I'm now almost 8 weeks x

I know this won't be popular lol but with this pregnancy my first test it was a faint line way outside time frame, a lines a line I think regardless of time. Does it have colour to it is the more important element I think.

I agree with @Tryingtoconceivenumber2 get a FRER blue dye that's aren't great, get a pink dye test.

You can't rely on the result after the timeframe, however when I got a really faint result on a cheap test, I got the previous day's test (which had been negative) out of the bin out of curiosity and sure enough a second line had appeared on it. I don't know how long after the time it appeared but it was definitely there. That line is now my 6 month old son. Others have recommended FRER but I never liked these as you get a lot of indents on them. I would normally say it's best to test again in a couple of days but if it's for a medical procedure and you need to confirm for definite before then, perhaps see if your GP or hospital will do a blood test.

This is the test from this morning. Is this an evap line ? Going to go get a FRER just for peace of mind

I’ve been TTC for well over a year and in that time have had loads of lines past the time limit, all evap lines never true positives

Cauliflowerandbrocolli · 15/04/2023 13:47

Thank you.
@Bluelightbaby good luck! Hope you get your BFP soon

Typical ClearBlue evap there, very thin line. If you’re pregnant I’ll eat my hat but if you’re 4/5 days from your period you could just be too early to test reliably.

Emmamoo89 · 15/04/2023 13:52

Definitely take a frer x

JeepersCreeperrs · 15/04/2023 14:01

Yes that’s an evap. I have blue dye tears for this reason.

Cauliflowerandbrocolli · 15/04/2023 14:17

Thanns everyone. Quite relieved its a common thing, although I can imagine it's horrible to have this happen when TTC and the uncertainty.

I had a posative just like that 5 days before my period was due in the time frame and I'm 9 weeks pregnant now.

I wouldn't be so sure about evaps, i have never had one, stop with the blue dye tests lol get a pink dye, way easier to see if it has colour or not, those lines could be something or could be evaps, although getting a line after the time was up and another line on another test which may or may not be an evap, I'd certainly be investigating further.
