Bleeding in early pregnancy...help!

Hi there,
First time on this forum but wanted some thoughts/advice.
Started what i THOUGHT was a very light but long period 2 weeks ago. Just a couple of days before my period was due. Started getting annoyed with how long it was going on and assumed my hormones were up the creek. Did some ovulation strip tests on day 12 of the light bleed as i was keen to crack on with trying to conceive either way if randomly ovulating.... anyway...they came up v strong positive which i found odd. Did more the next day and super strong again so thought 'i might just do a pregnancy test to be sure' low and behold it had a faint line...!!!! SO shocked. Anyway, assumed i was miscarrying as still bleeding on and off but did one again the next day and VERY dark line.
So, the reason for my message is that i went to the doc and she said i could b having early miscarriage OR could not be 🤣 but referred me for a scan but they cant do it until week 6 which is on 25th.
Basically wanted to know if anyone had had bleeding and went on to keep the pregnancy going? Or had a chemical pregnancy with that kind of discharge but v strong positive tests.
Have since done 2 tests over last few days and line still very dark. Would it be fading by now? The bleeding started over 2 weeks ago.

Those are lovely lines. I had bleeding with my first. Had a faint test then the next day started bleeding assumed I got my period and was out but next day I felt very odd and tested and it was a strong positive. Carried on bleeding lightly for around 5 days or so mainly just light brown. Docs sent me for bloods 48 hours apart and HCG was raising. She is almost 3 now x

Thankyou! That is helpful to hear what happened for you.
I wasnt offered those blood tests....maybe ill follow up next week if the lines arent changing...

This happened to me, convinced I’d had an MC as I’d had a lot of red blood and clots, I was so confused that my tests were getting darker not lighter. I then went for the 6 week scan and there was a heartbeat! Now 10+6!

Look to see if any hospitals near you have an early pregnancy assessment unit. I had really heavy bleeding in early pregnancy and went for a scan there the next day (st George's in tooting if that's near you).

Bleeding continued up until 12 weeks on and off and he's now a nearly 3 year old.

He did coke at 32w as my placenta stopped working, don't know if it was linked to the early bleeding though.

Thanks. They said they wont scan me until 6/7 weeks so i have to wait for 10 more days...quite painful!

Hah, your story sounds a bit like mine! I had a very faint positive test but started bleeding the same day. Bled for six(!!!) days, heavy enough to fill pads, but tests only continued to get stronger. The bleeding initially stopped but then I had four more gushes of fresh blood over the next few weeks, each time followed up with a scan at the EPU confirming the baby was ok. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma that resolved itself eventually and was gone by the time I had my dating scan. I'm now 32 weeks along and all looking good! Hope your pregnancy continues well too! X

I had this with my first pregnancy in December very heavy bleeding for several weeks from 6wks but the pregnancy tests were showing very strong lines. The EPU monitored my hcg levels and they were rising however they did a scan and couldn’t see anything apart from a sac, they said it could be too early and rebooked me in but in that time I actually ended up passing the sac myself so when they scanned me there was nothing there.

However I got pregnant again not long after my miscarriage and had quite heavy bleeding for a week and then it stopped and then again and then it stopped and I’m currently 13wks 5days pregnant so to be honest it could be anything the best thing to do is to rest and look after yourself hopefully you have your scan and you have a healthy little bean in there that’s just being incredibly awkward. I’m not trying to scare you or anything just wanted to show that this can happen either way.

I am about 6 weeks pregnant. Started bleeding 4 weeks daily. It alternates between light to moderate bleeding. I had my HCG levels tested last week two days apart snd they were increasing appropriately. I have a scan next week on the 28th. However, I’ve noticed the bleeding gets worse when I stand or walk for more than 30 minutes. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any thoughts would be appreciated. This is my first pregnancy and I’m scared.

With my 2nd child I had a lot of bleeding, can't remember exactly how far I was but it was so where between 6-12 weeks.
Dashed to hospital and was convinced I was losing the baby as there was so much blood.
I was checked over and baby was ok.
Happened again through pregnancy and everything was given the ok again.
Went on to have healthy baby boy, he's now 8

Thanks everyone. My bleeding subsided over the last 48 hours (apart from a tiny bit this morning) im still v strong positives on the tests but worried i shouldnt be reading much into this. If it had been a chemical pregnancy would they not have dropped by now? (I was about 5 weeks pregnant when i started bleeding i think)

Hi, do you have any update on this? Also currently having bleeding at 5 weeks, EPU have said to monitor bleeding and if it becomes heavy (filling pad within the hour) I should go to hospital - I’m on day 3 of relatively moderate bleeding and it looks like it’s hopefully slowing down. First pregnancy so absolutely terrified I’m having a chemical

Hi jenna, that sounds like similar advice to what i had.
We had a scan on tuesday which should be 6-7 weeks and i was expecting the worst...but they saw a pregnancy with a heartbeat! Completely shocked as ive now been bleeding on and off since 31st march...!!!
Did they scan you?

No I didn’t get scanned as it’s too early to see anything, EPU said if bleeding continues for 7 days to call them back and they’ll get me in. The bleeding has slowed right down now and is turning into brown discharge so I did another test and sadly it was negative :(
I assume EPU will want me in to scan/blood test to confirm but I’m pretty confident that bleeding was the result of a chemical pregnancy 😓
