10 week scan - bowel outside of body

Hello,

I had my 12 week scan today to find out I'm actually 10 weeks and 3 days. She said everything looked fine however she said she needed to take note that the babies intestines are floating outside of the baby's stomach. She said not to worry as this is completely normal at this early stage in pregnancy and usually goes back into babies stomach at 12-13 weeks. I have a scan in a couple of weeks but I'm driving myself sick with worry now that this isn't normal. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance

I honestly don't know if this is normal at this stage but I just wanted to say my niece was born like this & has to have the intestines put back in but since then she's absolutely thrived, she's now 12 & very healthy, never had any health concerns since.

Just to add we did know she had this prior to birth & was closely monitored throughout the pregnancy.

If they said something was normal then I’d trust them. I wouldn’t think they would lie like that.

There was one like this on one born every minute and like the previous poster has said, the baby ended up absolutely fine. Obviously you will still worry though. Are you having another scan before 20 weeks to check on the progress or will you have to wait it out until then? Hopefully it’s corrected itself
