Hot water bottle early pregnancy

Hi there, I’m hoping someone can help me calm down a little bit. I’m 6 weeks pregnant (by ivf) and I’ve been using a hot water bottle on my tummy for the past couple of weeks to alleviate cramps. I didn’t realise that this could harm the baby and now I can’t stop worry about it. I know I can’t use hot tubs or saunas, but I thought that was just because it raises the core temperature, but I’ve just read so much online about not using hot water bottles too. Has anyone else used a hot water bottle and been ok? I’m so worried, any help is much appreciated.

Used one throughout both my pregnancies, totally fine.

I also use the sauna for 5 minutes. A recent study came out about how sauna affects core body temp and the conclusion was that, it doesn't!

It is extremely difficult to raise your core body temperature, a hot water bottle certainly won't.

Don't worry!

I used a hot water bottle during my first couple of weeks, you'll be fine 🙂 like you say, it's your core temperature that shouldn't rise too much. Baby is well protected and the heat from the hot water bottle won't penetrate that far.

I used one all through my pregnancy, also used a hot tub several times and my little one is now 9 months and thriving. Wishing you a happy pregnancy ☺️

You can use a sauna just fine! Finnish women do all the way through pregnancy. There is NO evidence of any harm to baby from going in the sauna. The main risk is to yourself as you can get lightheaded more easily and then risk falling over, but it’s not the heat itself but what it does to your blood pressure. I looked into this when I was pregnant because I’d never heard of it when I still lived in Finland, and there is genuinely no real science behind it.

Thanks so much everyone, that’s very reassuring, I feel a lot calmer! I really appreciate you all replying!
