Ridiculous gas...

I'm around 4.5 weeks pregnant.

The gassy tummy, bloat, burps, farts and constipation are driving me crazy. Is this normal? I didn't have digestive issues with my others aside from being a little burpy.

I've given up fizzy drinks and I'm trying to eat small meals.

Everytime I eat I get a very sore tummy in 5 minutes until either I pass the gas or I lay down for a while.

Has your diet changed? I thought I was being healthy by drinking lots of fruit juice and smoothies in pregnancy, but it turned out all the natural sugars in fruit juice turned me into a fart factory.

I'd bet diet is the main thing, esp if you've upped your fruit / veg. Are you getting acid indigestion? That can go with excess burping sometimes. Possibly associated with hiatus hernia, which is v common as you get older, but I think may be more common in pregnancy too.

Are you on iron supplements? That can cause a lot of digestive problems too.... Don't take them unless you need to, and if your iron is low enough that you need to be on them, it may be worth getting a well-absorbed alternative such as Spatone to try instead, just to see if it helps.

Hormones makes your digestive tract relax and everything slows down creating a lot more gas.

with my second I had horrendous bloating where I looked 8 months pregnant from 4 weeks, nothing made it go away and it eventually became baby. Only pregnancy I’ve had that did that. Just another super fun pregnancy symptom I’m afraid

Diet not changed. Not on supplements.

Only thing I've stopped is the fizzy drinks

I've had terrible has from about 5 weeks - now 18 and it's improving but still pretty bad! Another friend is about 6 weeks and texted me the other day to ask if it was normal to be thay gassy...so I'm afraid I'd say chances are it's just bad luck this time around.

Yes, for the whole of both of my pregnancies. Currently 35 weeks with number two and it’s really bad! Sorry, I can’t offer more hopeful words for you. 🤪

It's very annoying and uncomfortable.

Oh the joys 😂

I'm in the same boat. 6 weeks today and I look about 5 months pregnant with a hard bump! I was not this gassy last time at all!!! I'm not enjoying this bit 😂

Yes! By bedtime each night I feel huge and tummy is very extended. My actual stomach hurts too sometimes from it all. Eugh.
