Hi, just received positive news via about 5 pregnancy tests that I'm expecting (first test done 09/04 at 4 weeks and then one each day and 2 today with this afternoons one being strong positive) but since this morning I had some light pink and brown (first pic with the urine) and then this evening has developed into this plus since a droplet of bright pink. I also have lower back ache. Any response good or bad or your experience would be appreciated. Thank you

So sorry that you’re having this as I know what a worry it is.
I’ve had five miscarriages in total (3 children now though) and sadly each one started with spotting brown blood accompanied by low backache and stomach cramps. A little spotting in itself is not always a huge problem but with cramps and backache, it’s usually a sign of miscarriage (in my own experiences)
Really hope you’re ok. Just try to take it easy. Have you got someone with you?

This could be implantation bleeding which is common around this time. I had bleeding second pregnancy around 8 weeks and all was fine. Good that you had a strong positive today. Fingers crossed for you.

Ramunea · 11/04/2023 20:13

It could be harmless. I bled a lot during my 3 pregnancies and I then had 3 healthy pregnancies and 3 healthy children.

Thank you sparkles for your response and experience. It's helpful to hear how it's similar as I called the drs this evening who was lovely and basically said it's a wait and see game at this stage due to it being so soon. I do have my partner (annoyingly away with work tonight) but dog snuggles are the best substitute! Thank you again for your response

Thank you both for the positive spins 121giga and ramunea! I've not given up all hope that it won't stop tonight and then everything is normal but I am realistic so like to hear from everyone ❤️

I will be thinking of you and will cross my fingers that everything is ok. Glad you have your dog to snuggle with tonight.

UnicornBoom · 11/04/2023 20:17

My implantation bleeding was exactly like this. I had to have lots of scans as bled a lot throughout pregnancy. Was terrifying but all was OK. Fingers crossed for you OP.

hellobanana · 11/04/2023 20:18

Thank you Unicorn. Can I ask if ever changed colour or did it always stay the brown and the light pale pink? Basically did you have any bright blood or red blood and it be ok?

I had exactly this when I was pregnant with my son, he's nearly 13 years old now.

It was so worrisome. I had cramps, backache, brown blood turned into red. I legitimately thought it was all over as had been the case many times before.

It doesn't always mean bad news ((gentle hug))

redbigbananafeet · 11/04/2023 20:22

Hopefully implantation bleeding. All my good thoughts and vibes are with you x

I am old.. this is important.. we didn't have the fabulous early tests around nowadays.. I think I had at least 5 maybe seven miscarriages.. but we're out down to late periods at the time.

I know it doesn't really help but early miscarriages are incredibly common we just didn't know because the science wasn't there .. had to drop off a wee sample at the chemist after 2 missed periods .. it took a week !

Every time at that stage it was positive It became a baby. I have four all now in their 40/50s..

Hang in there OP..

hellobanana · 11/04/2023 20:31

Thank you everyone for your responses, it's lovely to hear actual experiences rather than Google! Xx

I had bleeding like this in 2 pregnancies - in one unfortunately it did progress into proper bleeding and I miscarried, but the other stayed like this on and off for a few weeks then stopped. Now a healthy 12 year old 🙂 wishing you lots of luck 🍀

WonderingWanda · 11/04/2023 20:43

I had bleeding with both of my successful pregnancies. The one where there was no bleeding was a missed miscarriage discovered at 13 weeks.

I had quite heavy bright red bleeding a couple of times. They could see blood in the amniotic fluid but couldn't explain where it came from. Still a mystery to this day!

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 11/04/2023 21:36

I bled most of week 4 on my first pregnancy. Docs sent me for blood tests 48 hours apart to check HCG was rising. She's almost 3 now x

hellobanana · 12/04/2023 12:16

Hi all, just thought I'd say I did progress to having some red blood last night and today (still actually not as bad as my periods, I would say fairly light/medium flow) and now the pregnancy test is significantly less prominent (top was done yesterday afternoon and bottom just now). Thank you all for your support ❤️

So sorry to hear this. Sending you huge hugs. Be kind to yourself and take it easy. Feel free to message me if you need to chat. Xx

@hellobanana
how are you doing today?
I saw your updated post regarding the pregnancy test but please don’t come to any conclusion until you have had confirmation by your midwife/ GP.

I bled a lot during my pregnancies and even my last pregnancy I had bright red blood the first 3 months of my pregnancy. I then had a huge bleed one day which took me by surprise and I was passing a lot of clots which I assumed was a miscarriage but when I went to my GP I was still pregnant.

good luck

Lilacrose27 · 14/04/2023 19:48

I had this at the beginning of my pregnancy, I also had bright red blood too and even had a few clots. I had a scan and they couldn’t find the source of the bleeding they said the darker blood could be old blood and that the red blood could be absolutely anything from burst blood vessels to something more sinister but it was a waiting game. I’m currently 13wks 5days pregnant with my rainbow baby. My previous pregnancy in December I had bleeding that was more of a pinkish colour and unfortunately had a miscarriage. I would try to not to jump to any conclusions until a midwife or doctor has confirmed anything as it could be anything at all. Look after yourself and get lots of rest.
