Nipple cream - which one?

Hello there. I breastfed my last 2 and had horrendously sore nipples for the first 10 days which nearly made me give up on both. I used some cream which I can't remember what it was called but it was very 'sticky' and yellow. Not sure how much it helped really. This was all a few years ago now so maybe there is a new 'wonder cream' I haven't heard of yet (she hopes!). What did you use that you think helped?
Thanks.

Lansinoh?

LadyOfWaffle · 14/02/2008 17:14

Lanisoh is good, very waxy though but I guess it's supposed to be.

Second Lansinoh (sp) it is fantastic!!

IamTooSexyForMyName · 14/02/2008 17:14

Although the stuff from Ann Sumners is also fab....depends what you want to do with it I suppose...

at Iamtoosexy!!

I used nipple care cream from the activebirthcentre.co.uk and it was fantastic stuff

not sticky at all, not unpleasant smelling but not fragranced and lasted for ages

remember to let your nips dry naturally before adding cream though - mw told me that with dd2 as was having problems and it worked wonders

Fantastic! Do you know I'm so desperate I may even buy both. I can't tell you how painful it was both times, if I can avoid it just a little it will make the first few days so much better. BTW, did you all start putting it on before your due date? Someone recommended I do that, do you think it would help? Off to internet shop! Thanks.

Sainsburys were doing lanisoh for £5 the other day - half price. Hopefully they still are.

I got lansinoh on prescription for 2 months due to infected sore nipples (to use as prevention after infection had gone). Female doctor who had breastfed was more than happy to do this in order to promote continued breastfeeding. Saved me a fortune.

complete stranger 3 people ahead of me piped up in the queue and said ohhh thats brill stuff, she said she had a sample pack in bounty bag and bought a tube, very good according to her.
