Glucose Test

Hi ladies

For those of you who have had their glucose test, I have been told to fast for 12 hours, but forgot to ask whether this included drinking water - mixed answers on google, presume not all UK based.

Had mine last week..I had a couple of small sips to take medication. Nurse said it's really annoying advice said not to drink and that it's more helpful if you do drink some water before because it helps with finding veins. She did say not to drink during the two hour test aside from very small sips if needed

You can drink water while fasting.

You will be able to have small sips when waiting for the 2 hours between blood tests, but not large amounts as this can dilute the concentration of glucose in your blood stream.

I've done this twice and had GD twice unfortunately 😥
