When do stretch marks appear?

just that basically, curious to know at what stage they appear. My stomach feels so tight and like it is being stretched in 2 so im guessing it won’t be much longer.

Mine felt like that a lot from about 24weeks but no stretch marks ever appeared. I remember feeling like my skin was ripping sometimes, really odd and quite uncomfortable! I made sure I moisturised twice a day but I don't know if it really helped or if I was just lucky

Mine didn't really show until after I gave birth, and the skin contracted again. I thought I'd gotten away with it until then!

I had no stretch marks whatsoever until 6 weeks after I had my baby 😩 think the breast feeding meant my skin shrunk down too fast and they appeared - what a treat after thinking of dodged them!

Wyewaving · 10/04/2023 19:53

Mine didn’t appear until I was 37 weeks along. Thought I’d escaped them but nope! Some across the front of my belly. Two years on and they’ve more or less faded into nothing.

Misslizzie96 · 10/04/2023 19:56

Mine didn’t appear until after I had DS, I remember there being a full length mirror in the bathroom in hospital and being completely shell shocked at my post c section stomach.

I didn’t get any new ones… but my teenage years weren’t kind and I was absolutely covered in them then, including all over my stomach. My skin felt very stretched but somehow didn’t get any new ones (just the white ones from years ago)

2chocolateoranges · 10/04/2023 20:22

For me with my first it was one day after my due date when I noticed my first stretch mark!

LysHastighed · 10/04/2023 20:23

Never got any despite doing nothing to prevent them, you might get away with it

SparkyBlue · 10/04/2023 20:29

I never got any for any of my three DC and I even had pre eclampsia and my swelling was really bad apparently on DC1. It's genetic so just luck really

SparkleSpangle · 10/04/2023 20:31

I didn't get any first time. Second I started getting them in the second trimester but I was fatter to start with and was obviously much bigger than I ever was with the first.

blebbleb · 10/04/2023 20:33

I didn't get any and had severe preeclampsia. I swelled and stretched like a balloon. I had my son at 34 weeks though so maybe my bump didn't get big enough.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 10/04/2023 20:35

No stretch marks after my 2 pregnancies.

Hazelnuttella · 10/04/2023 20:36

I didn’t get any. And didn’t do any moisturising or anything. It’s just luck of the draw I think.

babynoname22 · 10/04/2023 20:37

I I didn't have them on my tummy. My thighs however....

DramaAlpaca · 10/04/2023 20:38

Three pregnancies here, no moisturising, didn't even get one. It's down to genetics.

Capitulatingpanda · 10/04/2023 20:38

Mine were after 40 weeks, maybe 41 weeks.

DarlingG · 10/04/2023 20:39

I did the bio oil every night with #1 and didn’t get any at all. I do have some on my legs etc from when I’ve gained weight pre-baby but didn’t get any from pregnancy despite gaining 4 Stone nearly! I’ve not been as good with the bio oil second time round but I do need to keep doing it as I do think it helps a bit but probably genes also play a part

Errmmmmmmmmmmm · 10/04/2023 20:40

i didn't get any with either of my 2, i moisturised loads since 3 months though so not sure if that was why.

troppibambini6 · 10/04/2023 20:45

As others have said it's just luck of the draw.
Four pregnancies and not one stretch mark, by bump was measuring 53 when I gave birth to 10lb 8 dc3!
