Hello,

So I am currently 38 weeks pregnant. I last had a growth scan at 36 weeks and overall she is measuring bang on the 50th percentile but her AC measurement is just below the 95th percentile. The consultant never mentioned it so I didn't think anything of it until I saw a lady on Peanut saying that she had been advised about induction/shoulder dystonia/c section due to large AC measurement!
I have another growth scan at just over 40 weeks and I'm now worrying they are going to start mentioning the above. I want to avoid induction/interventions at all cost and deliver naturally on the midwife unit but should I be prepared incase they say otherwise?
I've had the perfect pregnancy, no issues, never tested for GD and no symptoms. The only reason I'm having all these extra scans is because I told them I sometimes socially smoked before pregnancy.
Thank you 😊

@bigbaggyblue hiya. I'm 34 weeks and my last two scans (29 and 33 weeks) showed the same - normal growth but massive AC (and large HC too). My DD also had a very large AC but was fine.

I would have to have section/induction at 39 weeks anyway due to age but they've not said anything about the sizing. As long as it's within range they seem fine with it. The sonographer told me his growth was perfect.

Also bear in mind you don't have to say yes even if they do suggest an induction.

Best of luck

That's reassuring to know! Thank you for replying 😀

I had almost the exact same measurements. I had extra scans due to high BMI and was tested for GD but didn't have it and had a very healthy and straightforward pregnancy and birth on the MLU.

I queried the 95th AC and they were very firm that it was within the normal range. My issue was that it seemed high compared to 50th for everything else but no sonographer or midwife was worried and he was absolutely fine at birth.
