Fell whilst pregnant with twins

Hello

I'm hoping for a little reassurance / guidance.

I'm 24 weeks pregnant with twins and managed to trip and have quite a heavy fall two days ago. I landed on my knees and hands (and have some quite sore cuts to show for it there). It was the sort of fall that left me feeling a bit in shock after as I really went flying and landed quite hard. I went and got checked out, they did a scan and saw both heart beats. I just can't stop worrying, could there be damage they might not have been able to see? I didn't land on my stomach at all, but it was such a heavy fall I'm worried about the impact of the whole movement could have caused some sort of harm. I've been quite a worrier through this pregnancy, so I'm not sure I'm thinking too rationally about this.

Any reassurance etc welcome. Thank you xx

If you're worried about the babies. Contact your midwife

I did and they said as I've been checked just contact them if anything changes which it hasn't.

What a scare OP, I would like to think that having been checked out and everything is OK that all should be well. Babies are very well padded and doesn't like like you've done any damage if scab was fine

Do they move regularly for you be able to rely on that?

If you experience any pain, cramping or bleeding then obviously contact midwife again.

For now I would try and rest as best you can

The whole idea of amniotic fluid is that it cushions against jolts and bumps. It will have protected your little ones. Please try not to worry.

Im in the same boat OP I took a fall a week ago. I have also been checked and was very reassured by the midwife but I have struggled to feel confident since. I think they really are fine and MW would have said if something was likely to be wrong that they can’t tell. But I do totally get the anxiety.

RudsyFarmer · 08/04/2023 15:13

The kind of fall you had sounds like you wouldn’t have harmed your pregnancy. Try and relax and you could always pay for another scan in a week or twos time if need be. Just for further reassurance.

Hey OP, hoping to just give you a bit of reassurance
I was in a car accident when I was 32 weeks with my twins. Was blue lighted to hospital
Twins were absolutely fine, they kept me in for a few hours and although I was a bit bruised and sore the twins were not affected at all!
Hope you OK x

He Is Risen Love GIF

Totally understand the worry, but if they've been checked out and you haven't got abdominal pain, bleeding or reduced movements then I'm sure they are just fine in there and well cushioned by the amniotic fluid.
I was unfortunately attacked by a patient when I was 23 weeks pregnant with DD2 and repeatedly punched in the stomach. It was very traumatic but immediately taken to MAU and she was totally fine in there and sucking her thumb, and is a healthy 3 month old now. I was so worried like you, that there was going to be some other damage but she is fine.
Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy ❤️

Haha not sure how I managed the happy easter GIF apologies!

I still have no idea how this happened, it had never happened before nor since, but I dropped a 40kg barbell straight onto my stomach when I was 20 weeks pregnant. Everything was fine and the anxiety about it did fade. They're tucked up safe in there, try not to fret.

Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate your replies so much.

I feel like my default emotion has been anxiety from the start, each time I've had a scan I get a little break from worrying for a week and then start to get anxious. So this totally sent me into a spin. I'm also still getting used to trying to tell the difference between the two babies movements so having the reassurance of feeling wriggling takes a bit longer sometimes!

Thank you again, I'll try to relax xx
