If you are a regular on the infertility board you may have seen the ERA/Alice/Emma threads for those going through those tests after lots of unsuccessful IVF or recurrent losses. This thread is for the ladies from there who are now pregnant. We can share our worries and joys.

I am useless at remembering who is pregnant from which thread so please do add yourself or tag others. @Janefx40 and @Faithhopelove83.

Also, if anyone who has fully graduated/had their baby, then please feel free to join if you wish. I don't want to tag individuals as I don't want people to feel obliged.

If you've also just had lots of failed ivf and/or recurrent miscarriages you are of course welcome too!

A little bit about me. I have a naturally conceived nearly 7 year old dc. Have been trying for dc2 for 5 1/4 years. One natural early loss, 5 failed ivf, 3 surgeries (main one being an adhesion removed), 2 natural pregnancies and early losses, 1 ivf pregnancy that got to heartbeat stage. This pregnancy is a letrazole round and I'm 9+6 (although measuring 9+0 but that's been consistent) so due early November. I've been spotting brown for the past 3 days but my scan was this afternoon, so reassuring (although still worried). I'm under the CRP clinic in epsom due to the miscarriages.

Good luck to us all!

@Faithhopelove83 is absolutely right to go by the transfer date and never the LMP because it is accurate in a way a natural pregnancy rarely is but I tend to "convert" this into standard weeks as that's how the rest of the system works stuff out. So if you do a day 5 transfer you have transferred technically on 2weeks+5 days (regardless of what day of you cycle it was actually).

@Gardenlady543 if you transferred on May 1st (assuming it's a day 5 transfer) then you would have been 3 weeks on 3rd May, 4 weeks on 10th and today you are 4+1.

Gardenlady543 · 11/05/2023 13:28

@Janefx40 oh lol so I am 4+1 hopefully! The blood sample from 3 days ago is in the lab, I'm a bit nervous about it, although really it doesn't mean much on its own, I need the result form the one I took today too, I hope it makes it to the lab and they process it tomorrow before the weekend.

seven201 · 11/05/2023 14:02

@Gardenlady543 Care fertility won't scan until 7 weeks or later, CRP do it from 6+3. This time I went for 6+5 (as my lines started very feint so I suspected late ovulation and I was right as it measured a full week behind).

@seven201 oh wow well I'll be waiting a while then!

Faithhopelove83 · 11/05/2023 15:17

@Gardenlady543 Yes @Janefx40 is right, you're 4+1 today. I know, it's a long wait isn't it. You do the dreaded 2ww and then you have another 2+ ww! Hope you get your betas before the weekend x

Right beta hcg number one is back, this is the one I took on 8dp5dt and is 94.1mIU/ml, l when I check on beta base, this looks like a respectable value! Progesteone is 150nmol/L so again that looks good.

@Gardenlady543 will your surrogate be going for an early scan too? Have you asked her to do Betas?

Gardenlady543 · 11/05/2023 16:20

@seven201 they told me they were happy her level was "decent" so they may have gone straight to a scan in 2 weeks but they updated today to say they would repeat beta hcg and Progesteone on Saturday (17dp5dt).

Excellent. You've got double the pregnancy admin to do!

@Gardenlady543 that looks like a wonderful number and fingers crossed you will have the other result soon. Isn’t it crazy that this has all happened at once.

@Janefx40 this would be my first child so all very brand new and heaps of stress. I think for everyone it is awful in its own way but like you said we have to be strong - it takes an inner strength to concur issues like this.

So the consultant from UCLH called today, she told me that :

  1. she believes there is no risk because of my limited exposure, and the fact the organs don’t start forming until week 6, so she said if anything at this stage it would be miscarriage (but my pregnancy systems are crazy strong today so I think the embryo is sticking on in there)
  2. they are going to retrain every single a&e doctor in north London to ensure this never happens to anyone again
  3. they can’t track down the consultant who signed off the junior doctors prescription yesterday - nobody in the hospital knows who he is
  4. she gave reassurance that the handful of women in the UK who have conceived whilst being on this drug, have went on to have healthy pregnancies (just low birth weight in one baby)

That sounds like a productive meeting @AM08 I hope it's given you some reassurance because you really don't need this to worry about!

Janefx40 · 11/05/2023 18:50

@AM08 oh I'm so pleased it was a useful call and they were able to give you some answers. Has it reassured you at all?

Janefx40 · 11/05/2023 18:52

@Gardenlady543 that is an excellent hcg result! I'm so pleased. Mine was 110 a day later so that's a good level.
Xxx

seven201 · 11/05/2023 19:10

@AM08 I'm glad you got to have that call and I hope it's reassured you.

I am so annoyed with myself, I wasn't paying attention and I just tripped over :( I stubbed my whole foot on a raised doorway as in my foot stopped my whole body moving abruptly, so I massively jolted my abdomen and now I’m getting bad abdominal pain. Erg is everything safe and snug at 10dp5dt or do I need to worry?

Janefx40 · 11/05/2023 19:39

@Gardenlady543 you are absolutely fine. The embryo is nice and snug. A sudden movement isn't going to cause a problem x

Gardenlady543 · 11/05/2023 19:42

Thanks @Janefx40 I feel like such an idiot for not paying attention.

Faithhopelove83 · 11/05/2023 20:15

@AM08 Im glad you had a good meeting with your Consultant today and hopefully it has reassured you. Did they agree to bring your scan forward?

AM08 · 11/05/2023 20:21

Thanks ladies, it has reassured me a bit but I think the worry is always going to be there now throughout the pregnancy which is the last thing i needed after infertility - although it is nice seeing doctors go above and beyond, it reminds you that it’s not all bad. It’s funny I haven’t panicked about the heartbeat as much in the last few days and panicking more about birth defects - one anxiety for another.

@Gardenlady543 please don’t worry, everything I have read has made it sound like it is firmly in place by 10d5dt! You will be absolutely fine, are you feeling ok now? Xxx

Gardenlady543 · 11/05/2023 20:43

@AM08 sounds like you got distracted from a worry by another worry! I think the outcome of training the emergency doctors to stop this from happening again is great. Although rubbish that it happened at all.

I'm feeling ok now thanks, I think I did too much tonight, alongside the stress of this week and waking up early every day, so I been lying on the sofa this evening. Think we all need a bit of reassurance :(

Gardenlady543 · 12/05/2023 09:53

How's everyone doing today? Royal mail have managed to get my sample from yesterday to the lab so I'm hoping for yesterdays result to come in today. I slept well but feeling pretty tired and run down today and my heart rate has gone through the roof which makes me worry. I think I'll find the next few days hard as I have to start the process of telling my clinic and getting in touch with Dr Gorgy about the plan. I got in touch with my acupuncturist and I'm going to pop round and have her put some ear studs in for me, she puts them at a point to help with anxiety so I'm hoping that helps.

Gardenlady543 · 12/05/2023 09:54

Oh and I didn't do a urine test today again, someone told me that once you hit around 100 beta hcg in the blood the lines don't really tell you much and probably just cause more stress.

Janefx40 · 12/05/2023 10:00

I did far fewer tests this time than I have in the past. I did do blood tests and I felt like the urine ones were just confusing me plus I kind of didn't want to know. I was in no hurry to find out things had started to go wrong (even tho luckily they hadn't!).

We're the Medichecks tests 48 hours or 72 hours apart?

Gardenlady543 · 12/05/2023 10:06

@Janefx40 48 hours apart, so I did 8dp5dt and then 10dp5dt but I have one more kit which I will take Monday in 14dp5dt and if all ok my plan is to stop then and just try and wait out the time before the scan. Just a bit stressful as Dr Gorgy will need some kind of objective figure before we start the immunology in pregnancy stuff, so I can't just sit back and relax I feel :(
