Bleeding and pain after internal ultrasound

I had an early reassurance scan today and was measuring at 6 weeks 3 days. I was told the baby was measuring perfectly, had a strong heartbeat and everything looked good.

since coming home, I’ve had really sharp pains in my vagina and light spotting. Is this normal? I had the scan because I was spotting brown blood but the doctor and sonographer said this was a common symptom and that the baby looked completely healthy.

I’ve read that internal exams can sometimes cause bleeding and irritation but the sharp pains are a bit worrying. I don’t have any cramps, it’s just sharp stabbing pains in my vagina.

Yes they can do. The wand can knock against your cervix, which can cause pain /bleeding. I found it really uncomfortable.
