Hospital choices in the west midlands- Russell's hall or Birmingham Women's

Hi everyone!

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and I'm really confused on which hospital to pick. I'm currently deciding between Russell's hall hospital which is 10mins away from me and Birmingham Women's Hospital which is 25 mins away in a car. I've heard a lot of positive things about BWH and I know Queens has a good reputation but when I look at reviews I see mixed for both hospitals. My DH wants me to pick Russells hall as it is closer and I think he's panicking that if it happens suddenly, BWH is too far (this is our first baby).

Can anyone help? I'm thinking about visiting BWH as I've never been before to decide. They've booked me in for an antenatal appointment as I've recently changed from Russell's hall to BWH

Have you visited Russell's Hall, as I know their maternity unit is supposed to be far better now than it was?

You do need to visit Birmingham too - that's where I had mine, and they were excellent. But I followed my obstetrician there! We were concerned about distance, but I was admitted and induced for both births, so it wasn't an issue in the end! Grin

Hey! Yes I've had all my antenatal appointments there! Everything is fine there I've had no problems really, everyone was amazing but I've just been worried about the after care as I've heard that it's bad. My cousin had a bad experience there too with her after care. I've just been so confused as I've heard BWH is way better!

I'll be meeting BWH next week hopefully, hoping it makes my decision easier! Thank you for your response that was really helpful☺️ hopefully the distance isn't an issue for me either
