Hi,

I'm 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Something weird happened yesterday I was brushing my teeth and I gagged and fluid come away from me, when I checked it was wet and had like a white discharge looking bit in it, today I was sitting on the toilet and I felt a trickle looked in the toilet and there was drip of watery/white fluid that had come away from me. I don't know what this is? Is it normal? I have a pad on and it's not saturated it's just a little wet I went through three pairs of knickers yesterday because they just kept getting wet and uncomfortable to which I thought was watery discharge they was saturated but wet enough to feel uncomfortable 😬

Hmm I would be inclined to ring your maternity assessment unit and describe all this to them. Waters dont always gush in dramatic fashion they can trickle.
Does it smell sweet and definitely not urine? I know it's hard to know at this stage 🤣

@Leanne1191 I had this at 32 weeks. Rang labour ward and went along to the hospital. There’s a swab they can do that tells you for definite if it’s waters or discharge.
Mine luckily was just discharge but it had changed and gone really weird and watery.
Wasn’t in long and was worth it for peace of mind. I’d give them a call and see if you can go in x

I smelt it too it don't smell of pee at all, I think I'm going to ring them and see what they say it's weird 😬

If it doesn't smell like urine then yes please ring. As PP said they have pads that change colour if it is amniotic fluid. It could just be a small leak that they will keep an eye on but they will be wanting to check you and make sure baby is still happy then mostly monitor you. My friend had her baby at 36 weeks bang on and all fine so try not to panic but take all your notes and baby bag with you 😊

Phone the maternity assessment clinic. Amniotic fluid smells really sweet, like pear drops. It's really distinctive and you should be able to smell it without it getting too close to your nose.

Without the smell it's likely just discharge but always best to get checked.

If it’s got white in it it’s likely to be discharge as amniotic fluid is clear, but I’d still go and get tested as it’s not worth the risk. It’ll play on your mind otherwise

@Leanne1191 oh bless you, thrush is horrible at the best of times but at least it's something treatable, should clear up soon 😊
I was plagued with it first time around so feel for you. Best of luck bringing your bundle into the world when the time comes xx
