Potential Miscarriage?

I recently had some brown spotting, and had a six week private scan at the weekend. Baby was fine, though they measured 5+3 when I thought it would be 6+4 they saw a flicker heartbeat, went home very reassured.

since then, I’ve had quite intense cramps and the brown spotting has turned into (albeit fairly light) red blood. I have contacted my GP to try and refer into the EPU as our EPU doesn’t allow for self-referral. Can anyone advise on whether this is looking like the beginnings of a miscarriage, and what the EPU process will look like?

I'm so sorry you're going through this, are you 100 sure of your dates? The EPU will give you a scan to confirm if everything is OK or not.

If unfortunately it is the beginning of a miscarriage there are 3 options, wait it out and let it happen naturally, a tablet to help things along or a surgical procedure to remove the pregnancy.

I really hope all is ok and you don't have to think about those options, it is normal for a lot of women to spot in early pregnancy.

I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Once you get referred to the EPU they will scan you and you will know for definite however this is how my mc started in February, I had brown spotting a few days before, then pinkish red every time I wiped and it just escalated from there.
that being said there’s so many women on here who have bled in their pregnancies and everything’s been fine.
