Folic acid!!

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy and healthy baby despite being low in folic acid??
Ive just found out I’m pregnant and I got blood test results a few days ago to say I am low in folic acid. I’m completely beside myself about the risks to the baby :(
This baby has come as a complete surprise. A very welcome surprise! But a surprise none the less Xx

Yes I have. After my 3rd DC I was diagnosed with folate deficiency and prescribed a high dose. I took them for a couple of months then stopped as advised. Then a year or so later I fell pregnant, didn't realise until 20 weeks so too late for vitamins really. I was low in folate again but baby was born healthy.

It's also possible I was deficient through my other pregnancies but I wasn't tested until after the 3rd.

How many weeks are you? Have you been prescribed a high dose?

I’ve been prescribed 5mg. I’ve been taking them a couple of days now.

I have no idea how many weeks I am exactly due to irregular periods. But I believe I am quite early still. 3-4 weeks.

I feel terrible about it.
