7 Weeks pregnant passing small blood clots

Hi,

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant. I have been bleeding light spotting on and off since 5 weeks. I had a private early viability scan 2 days ago and all appeared good, a heartbeat was detected, baby was the size it should be and midwife said all appeared healthy she couldn't find a reason for the bleeding (at the time of the scan it had stopped). The next day more bleeding had started and was a brighter red I seen my GP yesterday and she advised if it got any worse to call the surgery and she will refer to EPU. Fastworward to this morning and I have passed two small clots I have had nausea for the last week all day and night which now has disappeared. I rung the GP surgery back but my Dr is off who offered the referral and the receptionist just gave me the number to the EPU which I have rung but the answer machine says to leave name and number which I have and they will call back when they can. I am not in pain so unsure if A&E will do anything or if it is worth going there to be seen. 111 says to ring GP surgery as is in opening times so just going round in circles really and not able to talk to anyone for advise. I had a misscarriage at 5 weeks 2 days in Januray also, got pregnant again in Febraury. Sorry for the long message I am extremely anxious as this will be my first baby and worried as miscarried last time. Has anyone had a similar experience to this? I have uploaded pics of bleeding sorry if tmi.

Hang in there try not to panic, my friend had this and turns out she has cervical ectropion (which is very common and harmless) and her blood clots she was bleeding looked exactly like yours, it’s where cells grow outside of the cervix rather than inside, she still bleeds now at 16 weeks but has had so many scans and baby is so healthy! If you go to EPU ask if they can check your cervix, wishing you all the best x

Thank you that is reassuring to know, glad your friend is still doing well and healthy as well! I have spoken to EPU now and they have booked me in for Sunday so fingers crossed until then. The bleeding seems to have stopped for now and no more clots just a little blood when I wipe. Thank you for replying x

I don't have any experience with this. But just wanted to wish you good luck today.

I'm having exactly the same. I've had 2 scans and all is fine. I'm 9 weeks by the scan. Everyone keeps saying it is normal so I'm trying not to worry and hoping it doesn't get worse. Hope all goes well.

I had this with my successful pregnancy on and off for many months. It was a cervical ectropion.

Without being too negative, I also had it with a couple of unsuccessful pregnancies.

Take it easy, no sex, orgasms, heavy lifting, exercise or anything that will aggravate your cervix. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice I really appreciate it! I went for my Scan today at EPU and everything is good heartbeat still strong and baby has grown as should and dated me as 7 weeks 3 days. She checked everywhere and found a small bleed in my cervix which she said is pooling up with blood and then releasing which is why it is stopping and starting every few days. She said it's not cause for concern and that it's quite common and unfortunately may last throughout the pregnancy but more often than not stops around 16 weeks. I was advised not to worry with the amounts of blood at a time (I showed her pictures I had) and that as long as it is not accompanied by pain then to just proceed as normal. So a good outcome and a lot calmer now. Thank you everyone ❤️
