I know there are lots of threads about this but in particular I am hoping to hear positive stories about other ftm with babies that turned. I am literally scrubbing the kitchen floor right now, and I have all the spinning babies stuff on repeat, +Moxa, and ecv booked for Wednesday - I would love to avoid this as I hate the thought of little one being pushed about but I also really want to experience labour if I can. I will of course do whatever is best for baby but just now I’m really just trying to strengthen the positive vibes.

as always, thanking the mumsnet community in advance!

I tried all the above and nothing worked. The midwifery team were keen for me to try a natural breech birth. A friend’s mum heard i was considering it who had had to give birth naturally to a breech birth as first and gave me a very in depth low down. I then took up the csection. It was very calm, positive and good all in all. I would have liked to give birth naturally but under the circumstances it all worked out. I guess I’m trying to say if the ECV doesn’t work don’t feel disheartened if you have c section. Good luck.

This was DD1. I tried all the tricks to shift her, but she didn’t play ball.

ECVs come with quite high risks to the baby, and quite a low chance of working. Even when technically they do work, births following them have much higher EMCS rates. So that wasn’t for me.

So my positive story was that I had a section and it was brilliant. I really loved giving birth that was and recovery was fine.

I’m now pregnant with DD2 and planned to have another section from the start - but at 34 weeks she’s breach again so looks like that’s her plan too!

I tried all of the above with DD and none of it worked other than the ECV at 37 weeks. It was fairly uncomfortable but not really that painful, she turned and was born in a birthing pool 2 weeks later after a 2hr Labour so the outcome was pretty ideal but ECVs do have risks and the baby is more likely to turn back to a breech position afterwards so I was also advised to have a quick bedside scan when I went into Labour to make sure she hadn’t
