High heart rate

Just a thread to see if anyone is/has experienced similar. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant & for the last couple of days my heart rate has been super high- been in to my local day assessment that have done tests etc and can't get to the bottom of the cause for it. I am booked in for heart scan etc in the week... has this happened with anyone else & did it affect your pregnancy? It sounds silly but it's making me really nervous about going into Labour and having a high heart rate!

I've had palpitations for years but they've got worse during this pregnancy. Had a heart rate of 180+ for 10 hours the other week so finally took myself off to a&e 🙈 They said it was SVT and referred me to a cardiologist, who then referred me for a heart scan. Hosp also told me not to leave it so long to go in next time, and I've now been back in twice with the same thing 🙈

I'm under a consultant and she's recommended I have a cesarean, which I'm fine with.

The heart scan revealed I have mild heart valve disease and something called left bundle branch block. Still waiting for my follow up appointment with the cardiologist but it seems they just want to monitor me for now. I also have no idea if those things are connected to the SVT or not.

Try not to stress. Easier said than done I know. But wait for the heart scan results and see what's said. I think if it's just started in the last couple of days for you then all should be okay. High heart rate/palpitations are very normal in pregnancy, especially in the later stages when there's even more strain on your body.

How high is it? Mine was over 100 constantly in pregnancy no idea why never looked into it as soon as he was born was back to 65-70

Thank you for the replies! The last couple of appointments my midwife has made a comment about my heart rate but never really done anything about it. It was only the last couple of days I have become really tight chested that I called the triage line who got me in to check over me and my resting rate was 160! It seems to be ranging to around 110-160. Xx

I also had a high heart rate in my previous pregnancy, not quite as high as yours, it was capping at 120.

Obviously there's nothing to say until you've had your scan but I would definitely just make sure you address the 'low hanging fruit' so make sure you're not magnesium deficient (we all are) you can take 400-500mg a day.

Exercise brings RHR right down, a 45 min- 1 hour walk every day will help.

When you're having a bad episode lay down with your legs at a right angle up a wall and breathe. This will bring it down in the moment.

Hope your scan goes well x

Hey @vik1233 - how was your scan? Did you get to the bottom of it? Going through a similar thing. X
