Constant period-like pains 5 weeks pregnant

It’s hard to say but I had period like cramping in my pregnancies, I think because things are stretching and moving around. If there’s no bleeding with the cramps it’s a good sign.

Need some reassurance please!

Went to the EPU last week and this week to check HCG levels and have an early scan due to my shoulder really hurting and some cramps. The pregnancy is in the correct place and EPU have discharged me but I even said to them, 'why do I have pain?' And they couldn't answer me.

I have a constant feeling of bad period pains and every time I go to the toilet, I'm expecting to see blood (also MC last month so very on edge).

I didn't experience these pains in the pregnancy that I miscarried so I am just so paranoid!

Didn't see anything only a sac and I've been getting cramps too but I'm going back next week for a scan what was your hcg levels when u had bloods taken

Try not to worry, I had pp so bad both times.

The first time they were so bad, I was sat on the toilet at work in absolute agony. I was sure I must have been miscarrying. Left work and went to docs, they sent me to hospital and I had a vaginal scan.

I was fine!! I would have been between 5-7 weeks.

I had this badly with both pregnancies and it was just tendon stretching. Mention it to your midwife so that she can check things out if necessary.

@LeeanneD11 heya I saw a gestational sac with a yolk sac inside but no heartbeat just yet.

It made me extremely anxious but the EPU have said that it is perfectly normal at only 5 weeks to see just that. They also scanned me last week too and it progressed from basically nothing to the sac this week.

My first bloods were 650 last Thursday and then on Saturday they more than tripled to 1900.

I'm just so anxious this pregnancy! Honestly it's driving me nuts. My belly just feels so 'full'. I'm questioning myself like is it trapped wind? But I am just so unsure.

Hey I had bloods yesterday and mine
Was 4332 . I have more bloods tomorrow and then a scan next week am hoping its progressed as I'm worried and just found I've got a cyst too xx

@LeeanneD11 oh wow we sound so similar? I had two cysts before the gestational sac could be seen and one of them has burst which has caused slight bleeding but they weren't worried at all.

Our stories sound v v similar.

How far gone are you? Your HCG seems nice and high considering mine was only 1900 on Saturday! How come they keep doing your bloods? It's a horrible wait isn't it

Cause can only see a sac and my cyst too , I'm around 5+2 , yes we sound similar lol how far gone are you , here if you wanna message me be nice to meet new mums who are expecting xx

Can I join in the cramps discussion? I'm 5+2 and have been having noticeable period type pains for the last couple of days.
I've had previous losses, one MMC and am so anxious. I haven't had any scans yet but am booked for an early one at 8 weeks, only 3 weeks to go.
It's just so hard! With the MMC I had no indication that I had lost the baby, the last MC I had terrible cramps where I had to undo my trousers - this was before it was diagnosed.
Hoping we all have successes this time 🙏

I had period pains as my main symptom for about a month after my missed period! I had no idea it was a thing. Good luck and congratulations 🧡

@justsayso course you can! The thing is, I can't work out whether I am cramping or it's trapped wind/constipation 😂🤣

If you don't mind me asking, your MMC, when and how did you find out? Did you still have all your symptoms? I'm so scared of a MMC after miscarrying in February.

Hey I've got a scan Monday, my hcg levels on Wednesday was 4324 & on Friday they was 7884 . Still want to rule out ectopic and they want to scan me to check if they see anything how many weeks are you now xx

@babymummy96 no problems ask away.
We didn't find out until we were about 11 weeks in. Had a bit of bleeding after sex and phoned 111 who said it was normal (as did Google and Mumsnet) So we just monitored it. But it didn't stop. It was only a tiny tiny bit in my knickers, but visible. Eventually went for a scan and there was just a sac measuring 6 weeks with nothing inside. I had to go for a second scan 2 weeks later. It was a whole drama actually as I thought I had passed it all but hadn't, so had to have medical then surgical management.
Moral of the story: get a scan to be sure! It could have saved me so much heartache and time.
Before finding out I was still testing positive - even did one with the midwife at my 10 week booking appointment. Looking back now though I remember starting to feel sick around 6 weeks then it just sort of faded off. My symptoms did go away, but everything online and via the NHS says that is normal for some people. So I didn't know what to expect.
Any MC is a terrible experience to go through. It takes the innocence away from you.

It sounds like we're all going to be due around the same time! I'm just crossing my fingers that at the 8 week scan we can see a heartbeat and put the past behind us.

I'm experiencing something wierd . I went for a scan measuring at 5 weeks only seeing a sac but a cyst at the same time. Now I'm thinking I'm more like 6 weeks along . Do you have any advise please I'm going crazy and with worry I've had an ectopic and they couldn't see anything only a sac never experienced a miscarriage before xx

I had this from early on until birth.It ruined my pregnancy as I thought I was losing it.Ended up having nhs scans every month for reassurance.Noone goukd explain the pains.

@LeeanneD11 hi, I'm afraid, as hard as it is, that there's nothing to do but wait and go for another scan in 1-2 weeks. It's gruelling.
Hope things work out for you.

In a way it's reassuring that OP and others are experiencing these cramps, maybe it is normal?

@babymummy96 how are you going now? I'm 5+2 and sat on the loo at work with period type pains! Feel like trying to get a scan but think maybe this is normal and I should wait a few weeks and pay for a private one.

I am now 13 weeks! Although having severe cramping which is making me nervous but I'm able to use the Doppler and hear her which does help. Hope you're ok x

Hi! I'm 7+3 now and going for a scan on Saturday. Still getting a few cramps but have been feeling reassuringly tired and sick. Very nervous still but hoping for good news on Saturday. I hadn't thought of getting a doppler, that's a good idea!
