Hi everyone, I am currently nearly 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd, however I seem to have developed a severe reaction/allergy everytime I consume ANYTHING with soya in it. Swollen eyelids, feeling ill, severe red blotches forming all over my body. I've never in my life had any allergies until now. Another mummy said this is because my unborn baby is allergic to soya? Is this possible? Or is it just heightened hormones & will hopefully go away after I give birth? Please if anyone hasul experienced any allergies in pregnancy let me know if it went away or if baby did have it when born, I'm worried sick about it.

I can’t comment specifically on soya allergies, but it’s really common to develop new allergies during pregnancy due to a heightened immune system. The part of your immune system that is responsible for allergies ramps up to protect you and your baby.
This is nothing to do with your baby being allergic to soya!
This should go away when baby is born and your immune system goes back to being less heightened.
There are anti-histamines and other steriods that can be taken during pregnancy so do go to your gp and/or try to get a referral to an allergy specialist which can give you more specific advice. Or sadly just avoid soya for now!
