I think I was told wrong sex for baby - am I crazy?

Went for a private gender scan, 17ish weeks. She sounded really sure and said girl but the more I look the more I see boy!

Am I being completely insane and irrational?

I know there are more important things just can’t stop thinking about it.

I think I was told wrong sex for baby - am I crazy?

To the pp asking what they're looking for...Blue is the baby's legs and circled in red is the baby's genitals...boys generally have a bit poking out...

Imagine the baby is sitting on the toilet and you are looking up from inside the toilet. The bum is on the left and the legs going out to the right. You're looking at what is in between it's legs

Well, you just have to choose a few girl names and a few boy names and decide when s/he arrives.
A nursery doesn't need to be any different for a boy or a girl, surely?
And how would anyone bond differently to one or the other?

That is a girl. I’ve had several of each and it would be much more pronounced for a boy at this stage.

When you have your 20 week scan, don't say that you've been told a girl and just let them say what they see. That was advice from my midwife

I know the OP has had a bit of a sense of humour failure about the dinosaur thing but the comments are cracking me up. I saw a dinosaur instantly too, came to comment and thought it was hilarious how many others thought the same! 😅

FWIW, my DD's scan photo was utterly terrifying - there were all sorts of jokes off the back of this scan. I seem to remember Skeletor coming up a lot 😅

On a more helpful note, I think the OP's scan also looks like a girl.

The reaction really wasn’t that bad. She asked perfectly politely if people could engage with the question. I wouldn’t have bothered myself but I have to admit I do find it a bit tedious when everybody rushes to tell the same joke.

I mean, this really. I genuinely laughed out loud the first few times and then I was just like, oh man I have to read this another 10 times!

Thanks to those replying helpfully. You’re right, I should trust the professional over my own eyes. I think I’m a bit irrational at the moment.

As for asking why I’m so desperate to know, well now that we do know my partner is thrilled and I am worried it’s wrong and will be disappointing. That’s probably irrational too though!

My third son's scan looked like a tripod from that angle. There was no doubting his sex, it was very obvious!

It definitely looks like a girl to me. I had a 16 week scan and you could clearly see the penis. As someone else said, it's about half the length of their leg!

Congratulations! I swore the private scan and two nhs scans were incorrect too. They weren't and I had a girl.

With my DS it was very prominent he was a boy! (We had the same scan)

Did they give you any other pictures? You can usually see 3 lines if it's a girl

I actually thought boy too OP, I’ve had 3 girls and felt like there was less ‘there’ if that makes sense! But as a sonographer has confirmed here it looks to be a girl it’s unlikely both are wrong. Congratulations on your baby 🙂
