Hi all. Hoping for reassurance while I wait to call through to EPU. Had 14 week scan yesterday, everything great, got home and then gushed bright red blood. Was at A&E until 1am from 5:30 and was advised to go for a scan today at the EPU and I’m just so scared and worried. Any hand holding or positive tales would be amazing while I wait and fret x

I've been there OP. It might not be what you fear. I was at work one day, mustvebeen 10 or 11 weeks as I hadn't had my first scan. I got up from the computer and had to run to the bathroom. Massive bleed, I stuffed what felt like half a roll of toilet paper into my underwhere and when to tell a colleague the I was going to EPU. I was checking the floor for a trail on my way back as it was so bad . I work at the hospital and they have a walk in clinic. They scanned me and diagnoses a

Oh I'm so sorry lovely, I have no advice except a handhold. I had bleeding at 6 weeks and all was well.

Has the bleeding stopped now? Sending ❤️ to you and positive thoughts.

Mysa74 · 25/03/2023 08:06

Oops . They diagnosed a Subchorionic hemorrhage. It eventually stopped. Then had some spotting for a while until it sorted it's self out. My daughter is now 6. Best wishes and big handhold xx

Big squeeze.
I had a huge bleed at 14 weeks too, whilst i was away with 2 of my children.
Very scary and traumatic but I'm now at 36+4. It's caused alot ot anxiety throughout this pregnancy, especially as they couldnt find a reason for the bleed but both me and baby are OK, so it doesn't always mean the worst. Hope it all goes well for you.

I bled bright red blood and passed two massive clots at 10 weeks. Never found out why and DD is now 4. Good luck, sending positive vibes xxxx

Justdancinginthedark · 25/03/2023 09:09

I had lots of bleeding and passed a massive clot at 9 weeks. I'm now 18 weeks and no reason was found.

Thank you so much all, I have been told I can’t have a scan as it’s the weekend but they’re going to check my cervix. Your reassuring stories mean the absolute world and I wish I could hug you all: will update soon as I know. Only a bit this morning and not sure if I’m cramping or just extremely anxious and overtired 🥲

I had a bleed at 16 weeks, utterly terrifying and they never found what it was. Now I'm at 27 weeks and the babies are doing really well.

Sending you a massive hug, since I know how scary it is!

Happened to me too I was around eight weeks I think it was an implementation bleed I'll never forget that night baby is now 9 months sending positive wishes.

Thank you all for helping me keep calm, I’ve been seen by EPU and had my cervix checked and there weren’t any concerns or new blood, only old they assume from yesterday. Looks like it was just a freak bleed, didn’t even recommend a scan as they weren’t concerned at all. Fiance and I cried tears of relief the minute the nurse left the room 😅😅

I don't know your finances obviously but I booked a private scan quite easily for same day -- could you consider this? I found the reassurance so important.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/03/2023 11:48

Bled with both of ours, small amounts but through to birth. No cause was ever found and the babies were perfectly well.
during one admission at 23 weeks they were able to tell me that the blood was mine, not from the placenta, I have no idea how?

after first pregnancy was found to have a cervical erosion. Was never told if that was the cause, though.

Sending you lots of positive vibes, all the best.

SkyBlue20 · 25/03/2023 20:15

sounds a lot like my experience - I had a big bleed at about 16 (I think) weeks and got checked at EPU. Turns out my placenta was low and they think that was the cause. It carried on lightly for a couple of weeks and at my 20 week scan they said my placenta had moved up, since then I’ve not had any touch wood (now 22 weeks). I understand how scary it is, sending a hand hold. Glad your cervix was closed and all looked ok - hopefully it’s one of those freak things and it’ll just be a one off. Xx
