Bleeding at 9 weeks- help

I’ve just been to the loo and when I wiped noticed some blood on the paper when I wiped. It’s pink, none in my underwear. I did a lot more physical work today than usual. Could I have just overdone things a bit or is this a sign I’m going to lose it? I’m 9 weeks today, third pregnancy and first time bleeding so freaking out.

Hi @Twoinapod - hope you're ok. I think this falls well within the realms of normal and is not a sign of impending miscarriage. I had something similar in my first pregnancy after having sex for the first time since conceiving and was told that the cervix is more delicate during pregnancy and can result in this pink spotting.

My understanding of spotting etc in early pregnancy is that it's not a concern unless it gets heavier, darker and is accompanied by cramps.

I'll be 9wks on Sunday and I've noticed my anxiety has suddenly ramped up a bit the last couple of days. I've not had an early scan or anything yet and I think just being in limbo is starting to get to me now. It's a long time to wait just hoping that it's all progressing ok isn't it.

If you're still worried in the morning you could always give your EPU a call and see what they say. Hope you manage some sleep lovely. X

@SnookyPook thank you for your reply. We had a private scan last week and saw the heartbeat so this has threw me a bit. Still bleeding this morning so I’ll ring the midwives once they open up.

I think i probably did too much yesterday but still can’t help the worry something is wrong.

@Twoinapod what did the midwives say? Hope you're ok x

@SnookyPook i went for a scan and there was baby having a wriggle and lovely heartbeat measuring bang on for dates. Me and DH were so relieved we both started crying. Couldn’t identify the cause of the bleed but everything looked great. I think I must of overdone it yesterday

Could be a cervical etroption - sorry never remember how to spell it ! I had this in my last pregnancy, literally every two weeks I was spotting and up the hospital! Have a google

VictoriaBlossom · 25/03/2023 14:51

@Twoinapod babe I literally had this yesterday. Wiped once, had pink blood and sent me into a spin, also had cramps

Booked a cheeky £55 ultrasound direct scan

Saw a heartbeat and still measuring bang on, like you too

I went in on my own though because I felt like I knew it was gonna be bad news.

@Twoinapod ah! Only just seen this - manic weekend! So glad for you!! 🥰 And you @VictoriaBlossom ! Such a relief! 😊

Hello op, glad that your scan showed everything is normal xx

As another pp said, cervix and even vagina becomes extremely sensitive during pregnancy; and can bleed easily. Any abdominal cramps/ back ache and frank bleeding are the red flags!

I had similar experience in my pregnancy; I was advised to get strict bed rest for 48 hours and see how it goes.. my daughter is now 9 weeks old and happily sleeping in a next to me 🥰

Take care and all the best xx
