Burger panic

Having a bit of a panic and wondered if anyone can give me any advice?

I just ate half a burger (from gourmet burger kitchen) before realising it's pink in the middle.

Now massively panicking. Feel really anxious and cross with myself.

Is this one of the times I am being overly anxious or is this something I should speak to midwife about?

Please be gentle, I've lost all perspective on whether I'm being mad or not!

I think it's OK tbh, they advise to stay away from undercooked meat mainly due to risk of food poisoning, if it was cooked, clean and you don't get food poisoning I think its OK.

It precautionary incase of food poisoning that they tell you not to eat undercooked meat rather than there being something inherently wrong with it, in and of itself

You'll be fine 🙂 I completely 100% remember that feeling, but you will be fine. The (tiny) risk is that you get food poisoning and that dehydrates you etc which is harder to deal with and higher risk when you're pregnant. Its not that the undercooked food itself will harm your baby.

You'll be totally fine.

The advice to avoid pink meat is because of the risk of toxoplasmosis. You may have already had this before pregnancy and not even noticed (fluy/cold symptoms).
The chance of the meat from a hygienic, chain restaurant being infected is vanishingly small.

Thank you so much, that's calmed me down. So many things to think (well, stress) about when we finally fall pregnant! Really appreciate you replying Flowers
