SEVERE diarrhoea in early pregnancy

First of all I want to apologise for disgusting topic 🤢and TMI but I am so worried.

I just found out I’m pregnant a couple of days ago - I am 4weeks+5. This is my second pregnancy and my DS is 15 months old.

The last three days I have not been well at all - achey, feeling hot, runny nose, shivering, flu like symptoms. However yesterday morning I had diarrhoea and as the day went on it got worse and worse. I’m up now and have been most of the night running to and from the toilet having watery yellow diarrhoea. I’ve never experienced anything like it - it is literally like wee 🤯 I haven’t eaten anything in nearly 24 hours and have only been drinking water! But I get back in bed for 20 minutes then I need to go to the toilet again.

is there something wrong? Am I going to have a miscarriage? I experienced NOTHING like this in my first pregnancy. I just had the usual implantation bleeding and nausea.
this pregnancy I didn’t even get implantation bleeding or any kind of ewcm like I did in the early days of my first pregnancy, which is making me think that this pregnancy isn’t going to be successful 😢I find it such an anxious time.

has anyone else experienced this is early pregnancy? Or have I just got a stomach bug? Will it affect my unborn baby if I have got a bug/virus? if so can I take dyrolight?

My sister is coming to look after my DS tomorrow cos I honestly feel so poorly I don’t think I’m capable of looking after him and I’m terrified of him or my dh catching this.

No one can tell you if it's a pregnancy symptom or flu. But it is possible, I had such bad stomach issues at 5 weeks pregnant I thought I had food poisoning!! When it didn't get better after a few days I realised my morning sickness was actually morning diarrhoea 🤣 that was a fun few weeks. Baby was fine, just make sure you drink enough fluids.

Hope you feel better soon OP. I had bad diarrhoea throughout the early part of both my pregnancies and have found dioralyte an absolute lifesaver. Call GP when up to it even if just to reassure yourself.

Thanks so much guys. It stopped around 4.30am and I managed to fall asleep. I’m up again now and it’s started again 😢

It sounds like a bug. I would try to drink fluid replacement powders in water and ring the GP for advice

I had this at 6 weeks pregnant. 24/7 for 3 days, it was like pee for me as well. I had an early scan at EPU at 6 weeks 4 days and baby was perfectly fine. Doctor took a stool sample but it didn’t show any kind of bacterial infection so couldn’t provide much answers in that respect. Was brutal! I’m guessing it was pregnancy related but didn’t get any definite answers. I’m now 22 weeks and alls fine!

Perfectly normal in my experience! Around the same time I remember coming home from work and barely making it to the bathroom before spending the rest of the evening lying on the bathroom floor shivery and hot and crampy with the worst diarrhoea of my life - literally felt like my insides were falling out. It was short lived if that’s any consolation!
