Self Referral

Hey, I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and had to self refer online. Have others done this and how long was it before you heard from anyone? Thank you ☺️

I self referred at 10 weeks and heard back within a week but I was further on than you. I think they like your booking appointment done by 5 weeks so as long as you hear back by then you should be fine.

I referred at 5 weeks. I'm 8 weeks now and just got appointment for 2 weeks time.

With my first daughter i done a self referral at about 6 weeks and heard back the same day. With my second daughter i done the self referral at around 6 weeks but didn't hear until 11/12 weeks as i had changed doctors and they couldn't work out who my midwife was and kept giving me the wrong midwife when i was chasing so when they eventually found the correct midwife she got me a scan booked asap and then seen her just after my scan.

I think it varies massively across areas. Where I live, I got a call the day after I self referred at 4 weeks and was given a booking appointment at 8 weeks, however on this site I saw lots of women pregnant at the same time as me who'd heard nothing at 11 + weeks.

Thank you everyone. It’s just that weird limbo time where you can’t tell anyone nor a midwives appointment and you just sort of want something in place 😂

I self referred via the doctors surgery at 5 weeks and was seen on week 6.

Must depend on the Trust you're with.

I self referred online on a Monday and had a letter for my booking appointment on Thursday the same week. When I referred they said to contact if not heard by two weeks.

I self referred at 4 weeks or so, I'm going to be 10 weeks on Friday and still have no word about a scan or anything. It's awful waiting and not knowing isn't it..hopfully we all get letter soon with dates🤞

Most places try to get you booked in between 8-10 weeks ready for your scan at 12-14 weeks. I referred online at 5 weeks, got a call at 6 weeks and have my appointment at 9 weeks
