placenta in posterior position + fibroid - causing bleeding,anyone else?

I am 20 wk pg and last few days have experienced some light bleeding, mainly in the morning. At 20 week scan was told it was because my placenta is down by my cervix and that together with a fibroid it is causing some bleeding. i have been switched to consultant care and am now being monitored in the hope that this fibroid will move from where it is.

They have not said I should be worried but of course I am. The bleeding had eased off last few days but then this morning I had one instance of it reaching my underwear. I have not been told to take things easy even though I have been doing but even v light housework seems to bring on a slight bleed.

Anyone else had experience/knowledge of placenta/fibroid in this position and if so did the pgncy proceed as normal?

i had a very low placenta with my last pregnancy - i was told it was low at my 20 week scan but that they can sometimes move up and out of the way and not cause any probs. I was scheduled for another scan at 34 weeks to check its position but i started to bleed heavily at 32 weeks and ended up in hospital - it hadn't moved and DD was delivered at 37 weeks by c-section because it was partially covering my cervix.
It's good that you're already under consultant care and know what's going on - strangely every time i started bleeding it was at night and a midwife said that's often the case so i don't think what you do or don't do will affected things. I didn't have any bleeding at all between 20 and 32 weeks and everything was absolutely fine with my daughter.
I hope everything goes well for you and there's every chance your placenta will 'budge up'!
