Okay I am getting worried, I had some on Sunday but then they went away afetr about an hour. I saw MW yesterday and she thought that I must have just pulled a muscle but am sure I havent, anyone had these before the on-set of labour?

I am at work at the moment and have just like a dull period type ache at the bottom of my tummy, its is uncomfortable with very little pain, I am not bleeding have just checked for the 4th time...........anyone else had these

think will go home & try and sleep them off now

ligsment stretching

I've had something like this. It is possible that it is is your ligaments loosening up (which is a prime opportunity for you to damage muscles so watch out - I spent 5 days in hospital with just that at 35 weeks). It could also be Braxton Hicks and I don't care that people say they don't hurt, they can!
It could be all kinds of normal things, but if you are worried at all, call your midwife, or if you can't get through to them, the labour ward and tell them about them.
Take it easy!

I should point out that I am not in any way medically qualified though.

Sana - I had this during both pregancies - it was ligaments softening and stretching. I am sure it is the same for you or it could be a urine infection. Best to get checked out anyway

Sana - I get these too - am 28 weeks and was complaining to dp at the weekend that I had period type pain. It's not really bad, but very much there and tiring. Having said that, in my first pregnancy I did get stronger period pains in the 24 hours before going into labour, so worth raising again with your midwife if you're concerned.

I hope it is the ligments, as the pain is not that strong and not continuos hoping its not signs of early labour

Pidge- have u had the pians again since the weekend?

Sana - I haven't had the pain again since the weekend. It was really noticeable for a couple of days and then went away. I get this fairly regularly - but with a gap of a few weeks in between, in fact I sometimes wondered if it coincides with when my body would have been having a period. But am probably imagining that.

Braxton Hicks is another possibility - though for me they feel rather different, not really painful, just a tightening across the bump, particularly at the top which gives me almost a breathless sensation.

Do go back to your midwife if you're at all concerned - it's never the wrong thing to get some extra reassurance that all is well.

Me too, i had them especially after exersion. I put them down to Braxton hicks.
They seemed to calm down when i rested. I had them from about 20 weeks tho and was scared at that time. It was ok tho and i got used to them and used them as warning signs that i should slow down.
The other thing already mentioned is a bladder infection. Just nip to your midwife and get a good check out, it wont hurt and will put your mind at rest.

Thank you all, feeling much better today, went home and went to sleep for about 30mins and the pain had gone when I got up, maybe it was just my bodies way of telling me to rest, I am going to keep monitoring it though, I had my 28wks appoitnment on Monday and my urine did not show any infection but dont know if they check for this
