Pregnant at 41

So had unprotected sex Saturday 4th March..... drunken fumble.... took MAPx2 Monday afternoon..... fast forward to period day and this....

I bought some tests on the way home from work yesterday because I just feel different....

I've got 4 children.... but I'm single, my children are 24, 20, 15 and 12. I divorced their father 6 years ago. I met this babies dad around Christmas time; we're not together now..... stupid argument but would probably never see him again in usual circumstances. He is 48 separated, awaiting divorce and has 4 children. I found his situation quite complicated- as he has 3 teens and a 4 year old. I felt that our lives were in different places at times.

Think I'm in a state of shock.... and just wanted to share this news. Despite, it being completely crazy.... I think i want to keep this pregnancy- unsure, because of my age, if my body would allow it. But I feel like it's a blessing.

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy at 41? Or fallen pregnant from a fling and kept it? How do I tell the father and when?

Sorry for all the questions: my four children were all planned and I was married.... seems crazy to have an accident at my age! I am financially secure, well paid job, own home, debt free...

Just want to know that I'll be okay x

I am 39 and due in 6 weeks, I left my ex husband 2 years ago after been together for 15 years, I was told I could not have kids and 6 months into a new relationship I became pregnant my relationship is amazing but it was a huge shock to us at the time. I would tell the father asap but if you can do this on your own then go for it as I knew if my oh was not onboard I would still continue and do this with my families support

Well I'm 16 weeks pregnant with my accident baby at 42, so yes it does happen lol. If you want that baby keep it, otherwise may regret it. It will be ok, you don't need that guy, I'm sure your older children will support and help you.

@Popalina65 how you getting on

I'm okay, feeling very fragile.... the dad is absolutely disgusted that I'm not terminating. We're not talking at them moment, I'm shocked and hurt by his behaviour but I guess I just need to keep moving forward. He did start off being really excited but that changed overnight.
However, I've had three abortion counselling sessions and despite it making absolutely no sense for me to have this baby.... I am..
I've confided in a few friends, who have been wonderful.

I think now I'm anxious that the babe is in the wrong place or that I may not be lucky enough to get to have it. I've not had a miscarriage before and I've carried 4 healthy babes so I'm hopeful. I guess being 41 is a worry.

Just gotta keep moving x I can't stop say turning into night.. what will be will be.

Thank you so much for asking after me x

@Popalina65 I am glad your okay if you ever want to chat just message me, the dad may come around it must be a lot for him to take in I was so concerned of telling my partner as we had only been together 6 months and when we got together I told him I could not have kids so it was a shock but it's worked for us I would have done it alone if I had to

Thank you all so much for responding xx

I have my viability scan in the morning... after a small bleed x my HCG has risen but I've stupidly read up about molar pregnancy and empty gestational sacks 😓

I feel so stupid because I took the morning after pill to prevent this pregnancy but now it's here I'm so desperate to be it's mummy.

I just pray those pills haven't stopped my bean from growing 🌱

The MAP prevents an egg from being released. Hence why if yours was already released it didn't work.

It's not believed to harm the fetus. See:
