Ovulation strips

Hi All,

I'm new to Mumnets. I hope you are all well. I'm struggling with ovulation test strips and i'm wondering if anyone can help me? I'm currently using the premom ovulation test strips - my question is, how much you all normally drink in the 2hr period before you test? It just says reduce/limit your liquids as this could dilute the hormones the test strips detect. I've been drinking a cup of tea (decaf) and then tyring not to drink for 2hrs and then do the test. I don't know what everyone else does? Could any one let me know what your routines are or how much you drink? I've been told i've been doing it wrong 😥

Thank you

Sounds fine, not sure how that’s doing it wrong

Thank you for replying. It's reassuring to know i'm doing kinda right. I only asked my sister because she's had children and she did the same thing. Just wasn't sure what everyone else did. I sometimes take a few sips of water in the 2hrs period, but not a massive gulp.

I always used to make sure I did 3 hours but as long as it’s not too diluted I think it’s fine

I found that liquid intake doesn't really make much of a difference and I could always see the gradual increase/peak and then decrease. I wouldn't go over the top with drinking but just be normal. If they are all over the place then it might be hormonal imbalance or pcos etc because they cannot be used accurately with pcos and sometimes even pco.

I found that checking cervical height, observing my cm and other hormonal changes worked better than having to test all the time. I was using them for about a year before I gave up and used my own method. It's all up to you though! It becomes tiresome and expensive when things don't work quick.

Thank you, really appreciate the responses. I hear you about the expenses. I tried to do the mucus and the temp thing, so i could pin point when i've ovulated aswel. But this my 2nd cycle where i'm properly trying. Will try to stick to the drink as normal and not too over the top. Thanks Girls x
