Pregnancy not long after miscarriage

Hi!

I'm a new user after mumsnet has helped me so much with previous threads. I very recently had a miscarriage (around 6 weeks ago, I was 8 weeks pg) however since yesterday I have received 3 positive tests, the lines are quite strong for how early I must be (4-5 weeks at maximum). Does this mean it's a new pregnancy? The lines are a lot stronger compared to what I got last time around at this stage.

Initially I was worried that it was left over HCG however it was 6 weeks ago so I believe my levels should have returned to 0 by now and this should be a new pregnancy, the lines just seem darker than I would have expected at only possibly 4 weeks preg.

Hope this makes sense!

Hello lovely. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I have been there as well and am currently pregnant after my mmc in November. Those lines look lovely and strong! 😍 It’s definitely possible that this is a new pregnancy. Did you get a negative test after your mc? If you’ve had a negative test in between then I would say this is a new pregnancy. I would keep testing every few days and see if the tests get darker. Best thing to do would be to ring GP or EPU and see what they advise. Wishing you all the best 🌈👶🏼

@CaliGirl47 Thank you for your response! I have had a negative around 3 weeks ago so definitely thinking it's positive. The hard part is the anxiety and believing it.
I called my GP today and have done a blood test to track my HCG Levels which they will also be repeating on Monday so fingers crossed they come back nice and strong. Just surprised how strong the lines are for how early I would be! I will grab some more tests today and keep this thread updated! I'm nervous as my mc was unfortunately my first pregnancy

Hi @TMI2000

Sorry about the miscarriage; I'm in the same boat, just had a MMC at 8 weeks, now waiting for my period to come back so we can try again next month.

I think you've done the best thing getting an HCG test done at docs, but it might be worth doing one of the Clearblue pregnancy tests that tell you how many weeks you are. That should give you a good indication of your hcg level and if it's a new pregnancy.

Staying hopeful for you and reckon it's likely a new pregnancy. As you said, after six weeks, HCG should be back to 0 and not high enough for dark lines!

Good luck :)

Totally understand the nerves and anxiety. That’s really great that your GP are tracking your HCG so glad they’re supporting you. If it’s any help my first pregnancy also ended in mc and a couple of months later I conceived my DD. I had a totally straightforward pregnancy although incredibly anxious. She’s a perfectly healthy toddler now. Everything I’ve read says the first few months after a mc is a very fertile time. And it’s been my experience that my pregnancies straight after a miscarriage tend to be the ones that stock. Hopefully you’ve got a lovely sticky baby growing in there. ✨

TMI2000 · 17/03/2023 12:49

Thank you @CaliGirl47 and @3xLL Both incredibly helpful! My plan is to do a clear blue weeks indicator in the morning and continue to track my lines until my second HCG next week!

Fingers are totally crossed as the lines are much darker than last time that it means a stickier baby even if there's no correlation! ❤

Hi @TMI2000
So sorry for your previous loss 🤍if you got a negative test after the miscarriage I would imagine this is a new pregnancy, but definitely worth getting hcg tests.

My first pregnancy ended in a mmc last year. 6 weeks after that I had my positive test and am current feeding my 11 day old rainbow baby :) do it can happen. Big fingers crossed for you ❤️

TMI2000 · 17/03/2023 13:32

@Cdoc Wow, that is so heartening, thank you for sharing your story!

All my fingers are crossed, both my partner and I are awaiting the hcg test results so that we can start getting excited however I will still find the first 12 weeks difficult due to the m/c!

@TMI2000 I completely understand, and the anxiety probably won’t end with the first 12 weeks given what you’ve been through. I’ve got everything crossed for you ♥️

TMI2000 · 17/03/2023 14:56

Just had my first HCG Levels back which were 308- I think that's okay for 4 weeks of pregnancy?

Fingers crossed next week they rise, feels like bloody ages to wait. Think I will continue to take tests in the meantime to track the line progression.

Fingers crossed I get my sticky baby.

@TMI2000 I had a miscarriage at the end of December December and Found out I was pregnant again at the end of January. I drove my partner insane as I was testing most days . I’m currently 10wks 5days. Honestly though you will probably still feel anxious even if you get confirmation that everything is okay and it’s the worst. I hope everything works out for you make sure you look after yourself and get lots of rest.

TisforTucan · 23/03/2023 17:06

I'm so sorry for your loss, I experienced a miscarriage at 7 weeks, we tried again 3/4 weeks later and we had another bfp. My rainbow baby is 6 years old now.

Keep positive and I will say try not to let the previous loss affect the new pregnancy as I did with mine, I constantly worried until the end. Good luck

TMI2000 · 23/03/2023 17:09

Thank you to everyone.

I had another HCG blood draw today to check they’re going up, I was hoping to hear today but I think I’ll end up hearing tomorrow now.

I just feel like I’m spiralling and over analysing every loss/gain of symptoms any little pains or niggles.

im hoping I can get an early scan and that this little one will stay with me❤️

Hi All, I had my bloods done last Thursday and my HCG was 308, they were re-done yesterday and they had increased to 2078 which is good but not quite doubling every 48 hours. I'm not too concerned as my progesterone was nice and high at 45. Fingers crossed this is a good sign. 😊

How are you getting on @TMI2000?
hope everything is still progressing nicely for you. I’ve recently had a BFP after last miscarriage in Feb. First Scan next Tuesday so worried!

TMI2000 · 02/05/2023 19:20

@3xLL hiii! Everything going really well so far with no worries, had an initial scan at 6 weeks, a private scan at 8+5 and an nhs scan due to some spotting at 10 exactly and everything was really good, saw a heartbeat at every one, even the 6 weeks! I’m now 11 weeks and have my dating scan a week today so that’s my next worry/milestone!❤️ thank you for checking in! Awww congratulation I’m so pleased for you! My 12 week scan is on Tuesday as well! How strange!
fingers crossed for happy healthy sticky rainbow babies for us both 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻❤️
