Midwife help

Hi,
Just wanted to use this forum as a sounding board to see if this is normal or if I should contact hospital again.

I had to chase for quite a bit to get a booking appointment and eventually had a call from the midwife assigned to me to go in 13 days ago for booking and bloods. I’ve messaged twice since, first time was for advice on an issue with an appointment 8th March, I messaged again as I’d been advised to ask for my blood results to be uploaded to Badger Notes, this was last Sunday. I had a message Monday saying ‘sorry, who are you?’, replied with my name DOB and address and haven’t heard back yet or had bloods uploaded.

i realise that midwives must deal with loads of different people, but not sure if this is normal? I have a question I need to ask regarding painkillers and don’t know whether to message again as I feel like a nuisance already. I called the hospital last week regarding bloods and they just said midwife will be really busy and to message her, which I did.

should I be chasing more? Or asking for another midwife? Or am I just impatient and anxious?

They are likely very busy. There’s a massive shortage of midwives at the moment and they are spread so thin so they have to prioritise. If there was an issue with your blood work they would have contacted you.

Some midwives are better than others but like the PP said, if there was an issue with your bloods you would be told. Uploading the blood results onto the badger app won't be on top of their to do list. At the start it's pretty boring being pregnant as you don't really get seen or contacted so I completely get that you probably feel you're being abandoned but it is pretty normal.

If the question about your painkillers can't be answered online you might be better off contacting your GP if they're on prescription, if not pop to a pharmacist.

Just an update, I’m anaemic and need iron tablets which I wish I’d known a bit sooner! But hey ho. Prescription to be picked up Monday so will crack on. I did get the impression she is lovely but teaches midwifery so was busy with that?
