Almost 40 weeks and possible broken ankle

Hi I'm just looking to see if anyone has experienced similar or any advice

I'm 39 weeks and due in 5 days. I slipped in the shower last night and severely hurt my ankle. I went to out of hours who said it's too much of a risk to X-ray it and a moon boot is too risky to wear as it can cause blood clots. I got sent away with 1 crutch

I can hardly walk on it and it's absolutely agony. Even just sitting it's throbbing so I try to lie on my side to get some rest. Was bursting for a pee during the night but waited as long as I could because I didn't want to get up so when I did I was crying with the pain

I'm wondering if you's think this will make birth so much harder? I know you're told to walk about and stretch etc if in labour but I won't be able to do any of that as I can barely turn in bed without being in agony. I feel i was already worried about birth enough now I can barely walk because of this

Thanks for reading x

I recently did my ankle OP and I got sent for an xray but was just sprained. I honestly couldn't walk on it for the first day or two and it was really swollen. It was loads better after a week. Really hoping you've just sprained and not broken and it might improve quickly. In terms of labour, yes it's good to be mobile but that could be sitting up, on all fours etc. I bought an ankle strap/support thing from Amazon which has helped it feel more stable.

I would visit a proper A&E for assessment - it's not at all unusual to x-ray the peripheries of pregnant women and if it is broken it needs proper treatment.
