How long after sweep did you go into labour

40+2 and had quite a long, vigorous sweep today around 2pm. Was only 1cm dilated but she was still able to give me a good sweep, when she took her glove out my bloody show was on it( sorry tmi)
since then I’ve been having period pain along with back pain which seems to be coming and going about 10 minutes

what has been your experience with a sweep and does it sound hopeful this may be the start for me?

Good luck! I had this after all 3 of my sweeps but no joy. It’s different for everyone.

Sorry sent before I finished... likely my body was just ready. Have friends who the sweep did work for, fingers crossed for you. Good luck xx

I was 4cm already when I had my sweep but not in active labour. I think I had it around midday and then my waters went at 3am and DD was born at 5am! Good luck!

With my 2nd- 12 hours later
My 3rd- baby was born 6 hours later but I'm sure he was on his way anyway.
My 4th I didn't go in to labour until I was put on a drip.

The way you're feeling was exactly how I felt after 2 and 3, baby 4 I just had a sore vagina from being prodded.

Almost 12 hours later, still getting contractions but they have been staying at about every 5 minutes or so. Baby is back to back so apparently I can expect this to go on for a while but I’m exhausted and can’t sleep😭

I went into labour about 4 days after a sweep - not sure if it was that or other things like DTD, bouncing on the ball, colostrum harvesting etc that helped too. I had my bloody show and baby was born 12 hrs later.

Still going over 30 hours later🙃

With my second I went into labour at 38 weeks but it stalled at 4cm and I went on until 40+3 when I had a sweep that evening. She was born at 5am next morning. But this time with my third I'm currently 40 weeks and I've had 2 sweeps already, the last one I had it done yesterday, and there are no signs of labour... No cramps, no contractions. I have been constantly losing big amounts of mucus plug (no blood) for over a week but no other signs. My midwife told me I was quite dilated and gave me a bishop score of 8 but told me my cervix was still very high up and that I would need very strong contractions to make real changes. I have been booked for a 3rd sweep next Tuesday and if that didn't work I'll be induced next Saturday...
