Is this a varicose vein?

I have a patch on the back of my thigh (sort of on the inner thigh, near the top). It looks and feels like a bruise but when I look closely and push the skin a bit it is just loads of tiny little purple and pink veins . The patch is about 2 inches diameter. I'm only 18 weeks and am worried it's going to get worse. This appeared towards the end of my last pregnancy and disappeared afterwards, but this time (no 3) has arrived at about the 16 week mark! Have not got a midwife appointment for a while and don't want to phone especially to ask about this, but don't want it to get worse or spread down my legs!
What is this? Has anyone got similar? should I be wearing support tights or something?! (Don't wear skirts a lot so I hope not!)

Sounds more like broken veins.
If it disappeared before it probably will again. Support tights might help or just put your feet up whenever you can.
So easy with kids

I'm sure your midwife wouldn't mind you phoning. Or you could visit your GP.

I think it probably will disappear post-birth too but any advice you can get on how best to manage it will make it easier. The advice is bound to include putting your feet up. (So go put the kettle on and ease up lady).

Thanks for the advice. Maybe will pop down to the GP or midwife and see what they say. Makes me think fondly of the days when I was pg with DC1 and could put my feet up on a more regular basis! Have worn pg support tights before (when flying etc) - aren't they attractive! I have visions of myself wearing them until my due date in July, and sweltering in the heat!
