Ivf, pain and no line progression - chemical?
Fox01 · 15/03/2023 20:35
Hi
I recently had a fresh ivf transfer and I'm 4+3 today but for the last 3/4 days I've not had any change on tests. I ha e used different ones but you can see that there is no change.
I had loads of symptoms but from 7dp5dt I ended up having less boob pain and now it's mainly a constant cramp/tightness in the middle of my pelvis, backache every other day but I get severe pain in the pelvic area when I need to pass a bowel movement or gas.
Can anyone tell me is these lines are OK or if the lack of progression and symptoms are sounding more like a chemical?
I've unexplained infertility, trying for 3 years and this is the first time I've ever seen a positive pregnancy test. I'm also on progesterone which will mask a lot of symptoms and prevent bleeding.

countrypunk · 15/03/2023 20:43
I think I can see some progression, but really the only way to know for sure is to wait it out.
Does your clinic measure HCG? That would give you a good indication.
I'm sending you loads of luck. I'm in the IVF crew too with unexplained infertility. It sucks.
Fox01 · 15/03/2023 20:57
Thank you @countrypunk . No they don't do any bloods. If I test positive still on OTD then I have to wait until 7/8 weeks for an early scan.
Oh it is the worst. My clinic priorities those with explained too so knowing 3 people who have had a total of 4 egg collections and 6 transfers before I even got has been difficult. I was referred long before them and now 2 are due anytime now. Happy for them but I just want answers. It's so difficult.
countrypunk · 15/03/2023 21:40
I didn't know clinics did that! That seems discriminatory to me. I think that's wrong.
I really hope this one works out for you. When's your official test day?
Fox01 · 15/03/2023 21:45
🙄Mothers day. 😭
So unexplained need to try for 2 years to get on the ivf waitlist whereas those with explained only need a year of trying. You don't even have to prove it either.
Where are you at on your journey?
countrypunk · 15/03/2023 21:59
Could be a good omen!
We've had one round and got 2 embryos. The first transfer failed and the second ended in a missed miscarriage last week. I'm having surgery to remove it on Saturday. So it's been a shitty ride so far!
Not sure what we'll do next, but definitely a break for a few months.
I'm wishing you all the best, I really am. It's a very isolating place. Hope you've got lots of support x
Fox01 · 16/03/2023 08:37
@countrypunk aw I'm so sorry to read that! We got 2 embryos as well and this is the first which I think will end up as a chemical or early miscarriage at some point. Then we will try the last one before another joyful round of ivf 😔.
It definitely is not easy and I think unexplained is so shit when it doesn't work and they still can't explain it.
Wishing you all the best and all the luck in the world for your next round. I might not be that far behind you! X

You can’t really track line progression reliably unless you’re using the same type of test and testing at the same time every other day, and even then there’s no guarantees sadly. That said, I can definitely see some progression in the tests you’ve shown so I wouldn’t assume this one won’t stick just yet. Fingers firmly crossed for Sunday!
In terms of symptoms I had barely any, slightly sore nipples intermittently and period cramps that had me convinced that I’d see blood every time I went to the bathroom but DD is now 10wks and happily snoozing on my chest so limited symptoms really don’t mean much (although that didn’t stop me poking my nipples daily to check they were still sore!)
Fox01 · 17/03/2023 13:04
@PointyMcguire 😂 thank you very much! That's so lovely you have your 10wk old 🥰🥰.
I took a test last night again (same time) and still not darker nor lighter. Constant worry but not testing again for a while. Well I'll do the clinic test on OTD

PointyMcguire · 17/03/2023 13:36
@Fox01 see I’d say there’s definitely progression between those last two. Is there a reason you’re testing in the evening rather than using FMU? Either way, I’d say that’s still a pretty positive looking line progression.
Fox01 · 17/03/2023 14:34
@PointyMcguire mainly because I'm up at all hours due to work, dog or dh. Most of the time it's 3am and I struggle to see nevermind test 😂. I just can't start my day like that also! Crying yourself to sleep is easier than holding tears in work etc
Farmersweeklyreader · 17/03/2023 15:55
@Fox01 Hi, I am currently 28 weeks pregnant following ivf. I only used 3 pregnancy tests, one was 4 days before my clinic told me to test, we got a faint line so that gave us hope. Decided not to test again until the day the clinic told me to test. Used a frer and a clear blue digital. Didn’t get a dye stealer or anything, my test just looked like your latest one. Clear blue digital said 2-3 weeks pregnant.
I didn’t have any pregnancy symptoms until much later in my pregnancy. It’s a very anxious time, sending you positive thoughts.
Best of luck for Sunday. X
Fox01 · 17/03/2023 16:04
@Farmersweeklyreader thank you so much for this. It is difficult when it doesn't get darker, lighter and no bleed or strong symptoms or on/off symptoms.
Glad to hear yours went well. After Sunday I am not testing! Was yours FET or fresh? Does it get any easier??!!
Farmersweeklyreader · 17/03/2023 16:25
@Fox01 mine was a fresh transfer. 1st cycle of ivf, we managed to make 2 embryos and put them both back in on day 5, pregnant with one baby.
We are also in the unexplained category, I turned 41 not long after our positive test, my husband is 45 so in no way shape or form were we expecting it to work first time 🙂
I think I was more relaxed at the start purely because my expectations were not high of success first time.
It will get easier 🙂
Fox01 · 17/03/2023 16:34
@Farmersweeklyreader aw that's great to hear! This is my first also but our stims didn't go well. I started with 44 follicles and they were worried for OHSS so gave me the lowest doses nhs give and I only got 6 viable follicles! We got 5 fertilised with 2 day 5s and the other ones were just too slow or not suitable for freezing. With the unexplained I was just worried it wouldn't work so getting the positive was great but since then it's just been so worrying. I feel like it has been a constant wait and yet more waiting. I just want to enjoy things but I don't want to live in the fantasy bubble either.
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy and if you can, please keep me posted how things go! ❤️
Farmersweeklyreader · 17/03/2023 19:04
@Fox01 I only had 5 follicles, only 2 mature eggs suitable for fertilisation. I was disappointed and just thought no way could this work and we would have to try different doses of drugs next time.
We both feel incredibly lucky to be at this point and looking forward to meeting our baby.
I think the waiting is the worst part and time dragged for me in the first half of my pregnancy. It seems to be flying by now though 😅
Please keep the thread updated and let us know how you get on.
Fox01 · 18/03/2023 10:25
Took my last test today. OTD tomo with a clinic cheapie and then it'll just be waiting for the scan around 7wks. It is good the tests are still clearly positive but no real progression since 9dp5dt so I am not hopeful. 😔

Collect the FMU then use it to test later- your more likely to get your dye stealer that way x
Fox01 · Yesterday 08:43
Thanks but OTD today and it's pretty much negative so I believe it was a chemical
Farmersweeklyreader · Yesterday 08:46
Did you use a clear blue digital?
So sorry it’s not the result you were hoping for.
Fox01 · Yesterday 09:37
@Farmersweeklyreader no it is a rubbish test they give. They don't like us testing with anything else.

countrypunk · Yesterday 10:11
I'm so sorry @Fox01
It's so cruel. Sending you loads of love.
♥️♥️♥️
SH998 · Today 12:09
@Fox01 so sorry to hear this, I feel your pain. I had my first ever positive after 6 years TTC and first IVF transfer. unfortunately it ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks, my test continued to remain a dark positive for weeks after the heartbeat had stopped. I naively believed all was fine due to this reason :(
I've managed to get through the last few months thinking I did actually get pregnant, before the miscarriage that's something I didn't even know was possible so that's some positive news for us both .Wishing you all the best for your next transfer x
PointyMcguire · Today 18:36
So sorry @Fox01 i’d really hoped this one was a sticky one for you xx
