Any advice how to be not tired even for 5 mins? I have slept decent hours (8.30pm till 6am) and yet I am still tired! Obviously I can't have coffee which I normally rely on before I was pregnant.

Are you taking vitamins? Had iron levels checked? Eating well? If all that is fine it’s important to remember you are growing another person, your body is working extremely hard and it’s normal to feel tired

I can sympathise with this! How far along are you? My first trimester tiredness was crazy, I felt like I could pass out every night. I’m 23 weeks now and the pregnancy insomnia has kicked in!

Make sure you’re hydrated and taking your vitamins, and eating well. Other than that I agree with @Twoinapod you could get your iron checked - but go easy on yourself, you’re building a human so a certain level of tiredness is to be expected!

Also, congratulations 💕

You can have coffee! You’re allowed up to two cups a day.

I have awful pregnancy exhaustion. Nothing to be done in the afternoons but I have a coffee every morning which helps a little then

@Twoinapod @thelma57 I am currently taking pregnacare which contains lots of vitamins and iron so looks like my body is working hard like you both said but I am really surprised it is starting this early as I'm 6 weeks far and I don't remember this bad with my first one. Got appointment with my midwife in two weeks time so I will mention this to her and get my iron checked out. Thank you <3

@Lhdale Oooo I didn't know that - I may have sneaky coffee then!

I don’t think I would be able to get up without my daily morning coffee! My approach is that if the NHS says I can have 200mg of caffeine a day, that is what I’m having!

Betsyboo87 · 15/03/2023 18:13

Yep coffee is ok under 200mg per day. You can check the caffeine content online for whatever brand you have.

The first trimester is absolutely exhausting, i was in bed around 7pm every night! It does clear as you hit the second trimester though and then just returns in the final weeks. Don’t worry that you’ll be like this the entire time!

Bestronger · 16/03/2023 14:11

Having a latte as we speak - such a life saver!

@Betsyboo87 I really can't wait till I hit second trimester as I am struggling to stay awake. Now these days I go to bed as soon my toddler goes to bed - lucky for my partner having TV to himself now these days!😂
