Can you drink herbal teas while pregnant?

I just found out I'm pregnant - currently 4 weeks. I really enjoy drinking herbal teas, but im finding contradicting info on whether herbal teas are safe to drink while pregnant.

I usually drinks peppermint, ginger and turmeric and the Twinings Glow tea which is green tea, with strawberry, cucumber, aloe Vera and biotin.

Is it safe to drink these? Im waiting for my initial appointment with a midwife, but I can't stop panicking about every little thing

Hi @rosielou94, like you, I love herbal teas and have been drinking them in moderation throughout pregnancy so far. I'm currently 25 weeks and have been drinking peppermint, lemon and ginger, nettle tea and rosehip - although I stopped the rosehip when I realised there was hibiscus in there as well, as I think that's one to be careful with. So I would say you're fine having them in moderation. I'm not sure about green tea though. And there are certain teas, like raspberry leaf and I think hibiscus, which should be avoided until about 37 weeks.
Another I really like which is also meant to be safe in pregnancy is rooibos.
I hope this helps a little but definitely do double check with your midwife once you have an appointment.
And congrats on your pregnancy!! :)

I love herbal teas but there’s a lot you can’t drink when pregnant.

peppermint and ginger are fine, I have a pregnancy tea from nipper & co.

Hibiscus, liquorice root, blackberry leaf, chickory root and camomile should all be avoided. Obviously raspberry leaf shouldn’t be taken until the last few weeks. green tea is safe but it does have caffeine so should be limited
